When Phung asked her husband where they were going on their honeymoon, Nam replied: "All over Vietnam" and she nodded.
Phi Phung and Trung Nam, a couple in their 30s living in Ho Chi Minh City, used their savings to fulfill their dream of traveling to the northern mountainous provinces. During their 29-day journey from North to South (from February 15 to March 15), Phung and Nam had memories that they will never forget because they were "like no other".

Phung and her husband took photos near Ban Gioc waterfall, Cao Bang .
Explaining why they spent a month on their honeymoon instead of just 3-5 days like other couples, Phung said they both had free time. They had both just quit their jobs and were planning to move to Da Lat to open a restaurant. "If we don't go now, we don't know when we'll be able to go," Nam said. Phung wanted to have memories to tell her children and grandchildren about "how crazy our parents were back then." In addition, both husband and wife have a passion for traveling .
Before the departure, they sent their motorbike to Hanoi and used it for the entire journey, except for the first leg of the flight from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi. The couple focused on experiencing nature, so they brought tents, chairs, camping equipment, tables, bowls, and chopsticks. Phung also did not forget to bring her best clothes and dresses for taking pictures. And they always emphasized safety.
One of the most touching memories for her was in Cao Bang. It was late afternoon, and the couple stopped at a terraced field. They met the landowner and asked to pitch a tent for the night. "I thought it would stop there. But it didn't," Phung said. In the evening, the woman took her child down to play with her. Then her husband and father-in-law also came down to talk. Fearing that the two guests from the South would not be able to stand the cold of the North, they invited them into the house to sleep. Phung and Nam refused.
"Then they brought firewood down for us to burn to keep warm. I was surprised and touched," Nam said. As for Phung, she was a bit worried because she saw that strangers could be so kind. "Everyone here is so kind. They are kind without any reason," said the female tourist from Ho Chi Minh City.
Not only that, they also "accidentally did many good things, so every time I think about it, I feel very happy," Phung said.
The first time was in Mu Cang Chai, Yen Bai. The man drove his wife from the bamboo forest to the homestay. The road down was narrow and steep, only one car could move. While going downhill, they accidentally blocked the escape route of a robber driving a motorbike in the opposite direction. Thanks to that, the police behind caught up and arrested the bad guy.
Continuing on, the couple saw a police car coming to help their teammates catch the robber. They were told to drive carefully because the road was steep and difficult to navigate. The policeman also explained that the robber had "snatched a phone" from someone. "We were happy because we accidentally helped someone else," Phung said.
The second time was when they went camping at Cau Vom, Hue, where there was a beautiful stream, Phung said. There was also a family there with their child camping. While the couple was taking pictures, the child went to the stream alone. Suddenly, the child slipped and fell. Phung instinctively ran after him but stopped when she got close to the stream because she didn't know how to swim.
Nam took a photo nearby and shouted, telling her to wait so he could rescue her. Phung initially intended to wait, but the baby fell into a whirlpool. Seeing the child struggling and drowning, she jumped in regardless. Nam arrived in time and pulled both his wife and the baby up. Phung was trembling with fear, but was still happy because she had done a good deed. Only then did the baby's family know what had happened and came running. They thanked the couple. "Everyone should pay attention to children, because if you are just a little careless, something can happen," said the female tourist from Ho Chi Minh City.
The total cost of the trip is about 35 million. With this amount of money, the couple can buy a tour to go abroad, even 2-3 countries. But Phung said she wants to go all over Vietnam first. "After going, I realized that Vietnam has many beautiful landscapes. Each region has its own beauty, not mixed together," Nam said. In addition, they also want to travel domestically as a move to partly support the local economy.
Phung feels more mature. She stopped comparing herself because she sees herself as "happier than many others". Phung said she feels very grateful to her parents for raising her and giving her a full life. "I see everything in life more lightly after this trip", the female tourist said.
