According to 9to5Mac , Apple recently had to issue an urgent notice to iPhone users in 100 countries that their devices were infected with spyware called Pegasus. It is known that this is a famous tracking software from the Israeli company NSO.
Apple warns that if you are in an affected country, take this seriously and take some security actions immediately.
NSO's Pegasus spyware caused a stir when it repeatedly bypassed iPhone security in 2021. Apple's Enhanced Data Protection option, launched in December, provides stronger encryption for data stored and synced with iCloud.
Previously, when introducing iOS 16, the company added iPhone Lock Mode to more tightly protect the device from external attacks.
“This feature is designed for users who, due to their public profile, are at risk of threats to their online accounts, such as celebrities, journalists, and government officials,” Apple said. The company said it believes the feature provides better protection against two-factor authentication (2FA) attacks.
According to Apple, these types of attacks are extremely rare and much more sophisticated than typical cybercrime or malware targeting large numbers of users.
