Apple Mac Studio launched, most expensive price 368 million VND

After more than a year and a half, Apple has just upgraded the Mac Studio to the surprise of the community. The company introduced two chips for one computer. The popular version of Mac Studio 2025 will run on the M4 Max chip while the high-end version uses the M3 Ultra chip.

In the US, users can purchase from March 12. Apple Store Vietnam has not announced a specific date for product sales, the company has only listed prices for each version.

Accordingly, the Mac Studio using the M4 Max chip will start at 57.9 million VND, while the version using the M3 Ultra chip will cost the lowest from 115.9 million VND. The highest-end version with the M3 Ultra chip, 512 GB RAM, 16 TB SSD costs 368.5 million VND. If you buy additional copyrighted software Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro, users will need to spend 381.5 million VND.

The price of Mac Studio immediately became the center of discussion in the community. There was almost no debate about the performance of the machine, but many people compared that, with a price of up to 368.5 million VND, an Apple computer is more expensive than the VinFast VF3 electric car (on-road price of about 321 million VND).

Apple says the Mac Studio with the M4 Max chip is “3.5 times faster” than the M1 Max chip. This version uses a 14- to 16-core CPU and a 32- to 40-core GPU.

Like the MacBook Pro running the M4 Max chip that was released before, the Mac Studio also uses the lowest RAM of 36 GB, an increase of 4 GB RAM compared to the M2 version. Users can choose the highest version with 128 GB RAM, higher than the 96 GB of the previous version. This version has the lowest storage capacity of 512 GB, the highest is 8 TB SSD.

The M3 Ultra Mac Studio delivers more powerful performance with a 32-core CPU, including 24 performance cores and 8 efficiency cores. Apple notes that this is "50 percent more than any previous Ultra chip." The M3 Ultra also features Apple's most powerful GPU ever, with up to 80 cores and 60 cores for the standard model.

Apple calls the Mac Studio M3 Ultra an “AI powerhouse,” with a 32-core Neural Engine for machine learning and AI applications. The M3 Ultra starts with 96GB of RAM, with up to 512GB of storage. That’s enough to run some local AI models with more than 600 billion parameters, according to the company. The machine’s maximum storage can be increased from 1TB to 16TB.

The M3 Ultra chip is built by merging two M3 Max chips using the UltraFusion packaging structure. The two chips are connected by 10,000 high-speed connections, ensuring low latency and high bandwidth. The UltraFusion structure also packs 184 billion transistors on a single chip.

New version of Mac Studio appearance released

Apple says the Mac Studios GPU will have dynamic caching, which means storing frequently accessed data in memory to reduce latency.

In terms of appearance, the newly launched Mac Studio is almost identical to its predecessor. The device still has a compact design with two Thunderbolt 5 ports and an SDXC memory card slot on the front. On the back are two Thunderbolt 5 ports, two USB-A ports, an HDMI port, a 10 Gb Ethernet port, and a headphone jack. The version using the M3 Ultra chip has a total of 6 Thunderbolt 5 ports, instead of 4 ports like the standard version.

Mac Studio supports Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 wireless connectivity and outputs 6K to eight Pro Display XDR displays.

With a powerful configuration and price of up to nearly 400 million VND, Mac Studio targets customers specializing in creativity, filmmaking, AI processing, and high-quality graphics.
