Real Madrid also suffered a loss when defender Camavinga was sent off in the 90+4th minute.
Arsenal's win also helped the Premier League officially guarantee five places in next season's Champions League, as the league maintained its top position in the UEFA rankings.
With a score of 3-0, Arsenal will confidently go to Bernabeu to play the second leg at 2am on April 17. If they continue to get favorable results against Real Madrid, Arsenal will enter the Champions League semi-finals for the first time since 2009.
