15:24: Hoang Thi Duyen says goodbye to ASIAD 19
Perhaps the weight loss during the Tokyo 2020 Olympics is still haunting Hoang Thi Duyen as the female athlete from Lao Cai gradually lost herself. She could not defend her gold medal at the 32nd SEA Games and at the 19th ASIAD, Duyen failed to snatch all three times to lift 93kg, and had to say goodbye to the Games early.
Competing in the same category as Hoang Thi Duyen, Quang Thi Tam - the 2022 Asian runner-up - suddenly became small in front of extremely strong opponents. She only achieved 92kg in snatch, 111kg in clean and jerk and 203kg in total, ranking 7/7. Winning the gold medal in the women's 59kg category was Kim Il-gyong (DPRK), an athlete who broke a total of... 11 records from Asian youth, world youth, congress record, Asian record and world record with 111kg in snatch, 135kg in clean and jerk and 246kg in total!
