The whole city had 142 students winning first prizes in the Hanoi excellent student selection exam, including three 10th graders: Ho Nhat Hao (class 10A2, Quoc Oai High School, first prize in IT, group A); Nguyen Dieu Ha (class 10G0, Newton Secondary and High School, first prize in English, group A) and Bui Nhat Mai (class 10S02, Newton Secondary and High School, first prize in history, group A).
The above exam is divided into 2 groups A and B. In which group A is a non-specialized exam for students from non-specialized high schools or non-specialized classes in specialized high schools. The exam results of this table are only used as a basis for ranking excellent students at the city level.
Group B is a specialized exam program for students across the city. The exam results are the basis for ranking excellent students at the city level and selecting teams to compete in the national excellent student competition.
There were 2,839 students winning prizes, including 142 first prizes, 596 second prizes, 807 third prizes and 1,294 consolation prizes. According to regulations, the 20 students with the highest results in each subject in this exam will be selected to join the national excellent student competition team, not taking students with consolation prizes.
Accordingly, Hanoi has 247 students taking the national excellent student exam in 2025-2026, of which the Russian and Japanese subjects do not recruit the maximum number of 20 students as prescribed.
Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted has 140 students taking part in the national excellent student exam this year, accounting for the largest number. Next are Nguyen Hue High School for the Gifted (49 students), Chu Van An High School for the Gifted (36 students).
