According to AFP news agency, China's Foreign Ministry affirmed that trade disputes "do not benefit any party".
"The two sides should resolve relevant issues through consultations on the basis of equality, respect and mutual benefit," Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said at a regular press briefing.
According to Mr. Lin Jian, China's stance on China-US economic and trade issues has always been "consistent" and "clear".
On the same day, October 15, Beijing also defended its latest rare earth export measures, saying that these policy moves were aimed at "protecting global security."
Spokesperson Lin Jian said China's leadership has made clear its stance on the new rare earth control policy, and affirmed that Beijing's new measures are "aimed at better safeguarding world peace, regional stability and fulfilling international obligations such as non-proliferation."
The statement came after European Union (EU) Trade Commissioner Maros Sefcovic criticized Beijing's new restrictions as "unjustified" and called on the international community to respond.
Earlier on October 14 (US time), President Donald Trump said Washington was “considering terminating cooking oil and other trade with China as a retaliatory measure” for Beijing stopping buying US soybeans.
“America can easily produce cooking oil itself, without having to buy it from them (China),” Mr. Trump affirmed.
In 2024, the US will be the largest buyer of used cooking oil from China with 1.27 million tons, up more than 50% from 2023.
According to statistics from the US Department of Agriculture, this figure accounts for more than 40% of China's total exports of this item.
