A fourth grader came home from school and told his mother about being lured and kidnapped for fun. Unexpectedly, the mother called the child’s father in Korea and the story was posted on social media.

On the afternoon of February 10, the police of Cua Viet town (Gio Linh district, Quang Tri ) denied the information about the staged kidnapping of elementary school students in the area as posted by many social media accounts. Currently, the two individuals who first posted the story on social media are in Korea, so the police have not been able to handle it.

Previously, many social media accounts posted about a staged kidnapping of a 4th grader.

Specifically, around 10:20 to 10:30 on February 7, after school, Nguyen Thi A. in Cua Viet town, a 4th grade student at Gio Viet Primary and Secondary School, went to the front gate of the school near the pharmacy with her friends to wait for her parents to pick her up.

While A. was waiting, a car with many advertising logos stopped and a young man said to A.: "Your father called me and told me to get in the car so I can pick you up."

A. replied: "You're not trying to trick me, are you kidnapping me?". As soon as he finished speaking, A. quickly ran into the pharmacy and shouted "kidnapping, kidnapping!". The young man quickly jumped into the car and ran away.

Cua Viet town police have investigated and confirmed that the above content was provided by A. to the family untruthfully, causing misunderstanding.

"I came home from school and told my mother about the kidnapping for fun, but she called her husband in Korea. Her husband couldn't hear clearly so he asked his friend who was also in Korea to post it on Facebook.

We verified and the child confirmed that this information did not exist. Currently, the police have requested the account owner to remove it and post a correction," said Lieutenant Colonel Le Thanh Hai, head of Cua Viet Town Police.

Cua Viet town police recommend that people verify the content before sharing information on social networks to avoid posting false information.
