According to the Import-Export Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade), the main reason is the sharp increase in global supply, especially from Brazil and Indonesia when the new harvest season begins, along with the high export volume of robusta from Vietnam.
A report from the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) forecasts Brazil’s coffee output in the 2025-2026 crop year to reach around 65 million bags, up slightly by 0.5% from the previous crop year. Meanwhile, Vietnam’s coffee output is forecast to increase by nearly 7%, to a four-year high of around 1.85 million tons.
In addition, strong selling pressure from speculators on the floor, along with the appreciation of the USD against major currencies, also contributed to the decrease in coffee prices.
*The domestic pepper market entered July 15 in a stable state, without recording any price adjustments.
Purchasing points in the Central Highlands and Southeast regions still list the familiar price from the beginning of the month until now, fluctuating between 138,000 and 142,000 VND/kg. This is a price range that is considered high but lacks the motivation to increase further.
In Dak Lak, pepper prices remain at the highest level in the market at VND142,000/kg. Gia Lai continues to be at a lower level, around VND138,000 - 139,000/kg. The price has remained almost unchanged for more than a week, indicating that the market is entering a period of stagnation after a sharp increase in the beginning of the third quarter of 2025.
It is easy to see that the trading atmosphere is quite quiet. Many farmers, after selling most of their goods in previous months, now do not have much inventory left. With prices remaining at a relatively high level, they are not under pressure to sell, especially when the international market has not shown any positive signs of new orders. A wait-and-see attitude is prevailing among both sellers and buyers.
