Mr. Be Quoc Vinh, Director of Phia Oac - Phin Den National Park, Nguyen Binh District, said the ice formed at 2 p.m., from an altitude of about 1,600 m up to the mountain top. The outside temperature dropped to minus 5 degrees Celsius.

All the trees and objects that were wet were covered in a white layer of ice. "The wind is very strong now, many ice blocks on the trees are starting to fall off," Mr. Vinh added.
Phia Oac Peak is the highest point in Phia Oac - Phia Den National Park (also called Phja Oac - Phja Den), sometimes ice appears when the North is very cold, the average daily temperature is 13 degrees or lower.

In addition to Phia Oac, it is likely that tonight some mountain peaks over 1,500 m above sea level may have ice, as cold air is strengthening and the temperature in the North is gradually dropping.
The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said the cold spell will last until January 25, with temperatures in the Northern Delta at 7-10 degrees Celsius and in mountainous areas below 0 degrees Celsius.
