On the morning of July 18, the leader of the Department of Tourism of An Giang province said that this unit was established under Resolution No. 08/NQ-HDND dated July 1, 2025 of the People's Council of An Giang province and Decision No. 154/QD-UBND July 1, 2025 of the People's Committee of An Giang province after the merger. With the spirit of solidarity, overcoming difficulties, closely following the leadership and direction of the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee, the Department of Tourism has made many efforts to achieve many positive results in perfecting the organization and apparatus of agencies and units, stabilizing the working environment for civil servants and employees and continuing to implement the annual work plan.
“In general, tourism and foreign affairs activities in the province still ensure continuity and regularity. Some tasks and targets in the month have been achieved and exceeded the plan, maintaining stable growth,” shared the leader of An Giang Department of Tourism.

Regarding the implementation of tourism targets, in the past month, An Giang is estimated to have welcomed over 2.1 million visitors (up 31.8% over the same period). Of which, international visitors are estimated to have welcomed over 101,400 (up 51.9% over the same period); total revenue reached VND5,191 billion (up 92.2% over the same period).
In the first 7 months of the year, An Giang is estimated to have welcomed more than 16.3 million visitors (up 16.2% over the same period, reaching 77.7% of the yearly plan). Of which, international visitors are estimated to have welcomed more than 1 million (up 71.3% over the same period, reaching 82.3% of the yearly plan), with total revenue reaching about VND 42,599 billion (up 76.8% over the same period and exceeding 8.4% of the yearly plan).
Phu Quoc special zone alone welcomed an estimated 789,906 visitors last month (up 24.2% year-on-year). Of which, international visitors were estimated at nearly 97,000 (up 53.4% year-on-year); total revenue reached VND3,278 billion (up 99.7% year-on-year).
Thus, in the first 7 months of 2025, Phu Quoc special economic zone alone is estimated to welcome over 5.2 million visitors (up 31.8% over the same period, reaching 72% of the annual plan). Of which, international visitors are estimated to welcome 978,807 (up 74.1% over the same period, reaching 83.2% of the annual plan), total revenue reaches about 24,866 billion VND (up 93.6% over the same period, exceeding 5.8% of the annual plan).
Currently, An Giang province has 1,086 tourist accommodation establishments with 37,508 rooms. Of which, 41 are rated 1-3 stars with 1,712 rooms; 30 are rated 4-5 stars with 13,576 rooms. There are 444 hotels and motels that meet tourist service standards with 12,108 rooms.
Next month, the An Giang Department of Tourism will advise the Provincial People's Committee to issue an official dispatch to solicit opinions from ministries and branches on the Project "Building Phu Quoc into a high-quality service and eco-tourism center, sea and island tourism of national and international stature". The Department also submitted a proposal for approval of the "Development of a Tourism Development Project for An Giang Province in the period 2025 - 2030, with a vision to 2050", the policy of "Developing a Resolution on tourism development in An Giang Province"...
In order to further develop the tourism industry, the Department has developed a plan to survey locations for installing billboards promoting tourism images on islands with potential and currently exploited for tourism to supplement the Public Investment Plan for the period 2026 - 2030; conduct field surveys of resources, areas, tourist attractions/tourist attractions in An Giang province (old) to serve the orientation of building programs and planning for tourism development in An Giang province. In addition, the Department of Tourism will review and compile statistics on communes, wards, and special zones that are exploiting tourism development; work with the Ho Chi Minh City Culinary Association and the Provincial Chefs Association to prepare for the renaming of the An Giang Provincial Chefs Association.
In the tourism operation plan of An Giang province in 2025 (after consolidation), the total number of visitors is estimated to be 21,050,000. Of which, international visitors are estimated to be 1,227,000, with total revenue estimated at 39,300 billion VND. |
