The 100,000-seat "Big Lotus" Stadium in Hangzhou, China, was chosen as the venue for the opening ceremony of the 19th Asian Games on the evening of September 23. With the idea of "greening" all activities, there will be no fireworks display like previous large-scale events. The entire event will not emit carbon but will make full use of high-tech means to maximize the emotional experience and humanistic spirit. Through that, it will reflect the unique features of Chinese culture in the new era.
“The opening ceremony of the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou will break with tradition and will not have a fireworks display. Because we are following a green philosophy in organizing this event, the organizing committee wants to reduce carbon emissions as much as possible, so we have decided to cut down on the fireworks displays,” he affirmed.
Sports venues in Hangzhou, Zhejiang are ready for the 19th ASIAD
With the theme "Towards Asia", the opening ceremony of the 19th ASIAD is expected to have many unique art performances. The organizing committee has cleverly integrated the unique traditional Chinese culture into the entire opening ceremony through the artistic ideas of ink paintings and Jiangnan mist. The main lighting colors of the opening ceremony will be blue and green. The panoramic water fountain will be the most anticipated performance. Mr. Sa Hieu Lam assured that just by sitting in front of the screen, the audience will enjoy the wonderful visual effects and moving atmosphere of the opening ceremony.
Mr. Sa Xiaolan added: “The 19th Asian Games opening ceremony will be short but not simple. The most important thing is that we want to convey the message of environmental protection. That is the final reason we have made the decision to change. There will be many unique cultural performances, not only imbued with Chinese but also Asian characteristics. In particular, we always pay attention to culture in this new era. Viewers will definitely not be disappointed with what is about to happen.”
Following the above announcements, on September 18, the 19th Asian Games Organizing Committee also opened the Main Media Center. This will become the main news center and international broadcasting center. In addition, the Main Media Center also has a number of special experience areas and a traditional Chinese medicine culture room.
The host country of ASIAD 19 promises to bring viewers eye-catching performances.
Also on September 18, Chinese media had many comments on the medal-winning ability of the Vietnamese sports delegation at the 19th ASIAD. China Daily assessed: “Vietnam’s gold medal aspirations lie in sepak takraw, chess, shooting, cycling, karate, weightlifting and archery. Many domestic newspapers reported that all members of the national team have undergone rigorous training both at home and abroad.
Although Vietnam may not be a candidate for gold medals in swimming, athletics, rowing, table tennis, gymnastics, wrestling, boxing and fencing, with careful investment, they are still optimistic about winning medals in these events. Vietnam made many marks at the tournament in Indonesia in 2018. Therefore, these will be the athletes worth looking forward to in the upcoming tournament."
