Recently, some wooden structures at Ngu Phung Tower have shown signs of peeling and fading of the red paint surface; some locations are directly affected by the weather, showing signs of chalking, dusty surfaces; some locations on the railing have blisters... The maintenance of Ngu Phung Tower is being carried out until November 10, construction time is from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. the next morning, without affecting visitors.

Some Hue relics will limit visiting areas to ensure safety.
The Hue Monuments Conservation Center has been implementing solutions and plans such as cleaning the dust layer of the porch column system, military columns and wooden walls with water mixed with a specialized solution; for gilded details, cleaning is done with a soft cloth soaked in water, avoiding affecting the gold layer; ceiling panels and roof systems are mainly cleaned with clean water and wiped dry... Along with that, this maintenance work is carried out with steps according to traditional techniques, including cleaning and sealing small cracks; lining the color layer in blistered areas to create flatness; painting the base color of the structure and finishing with vermilion paint. According to the Hue Monuments Conservation Center, wooden architectural works always face the impact of termites, leaks, extreme weather... causing the works to deteriorate over time, especially the exterior with vermilion paint and gilding techniques.
Restoration practice also shows that the cause of the deterioration of gilded lacquer is due to the impact of the harsh climate in Hue with the characteristics of heavy rain, intense sunlight, high humidity and large solar radiation. In particular, Ngu Phung tower has a high position, the level of exposure and impact of the environment is increasingly greater, causing the speed of fading and creating a network faster than other works.
