On June 19, the Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention Department (PA05) of Binh Phuoc Provincial Police said that this agency had just coordinated with Bu Dang District Police to arrest NHT (26 years old, residing in Bu Dang District) to investigate the act of using a Facebook account to extort property.
Previously, detectives of PA05 of Binh Phuoc Provincial Police discovered that the Facebook account "An Dan" was suspected of illegal activities on cyberspace, so they investigated and collected evidence.
Through investigation, it was determined that the owner of the Facebook account "An Dan" belonged to NHT, so the police summoned this girl to the headquarters for questioning. Through the struggle, NHT confessed that because she knew some personal information of Ms. HHK (residing in Bu Dang District), T. tried to log in and was able to access Ms. K's Facebook account. After logging in, T. went to the message section and took pictures of messages related to her private life.

After that, T. sent images of the messages to Ms. K. and said that he was a "hacker", had accessed Ms. K.'s Facebook account and repeatedly asked Ms. K. to transfer a total of more than 115 million VND to the bank account designated by T. (the account was purchased by T. from someone else). Because she was afraid of affecting her family, Ms. K. transferred the money as requested.
The entire case file has been handed over by PA05 of Binh Phuoc Provincial Police to the Investigation Police Agency of Bu Dang District Police to continue investigating according to authority.
PA05 Binh Phuoc Provincial Police recommends that people keep their account information confidential, do not post, share, or send secret messages about private life, personal information, etc. on social networks to avoid bad guys taking advantage of, infiltrating, and impersonating account owners to defraud and appropriate property.
