After the match with SLNA at Vinh Stadium on the afternoon of August 11, HAGL players were "released" to return to their hometowns. Most of the mountain town team took a bus or flew home to rest after a stressful season.
At midnight on August 11, center back Diakite and striker Brandao flew to Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), before connecting to their hometown. Only striker Paollo followed the other two members living in HAGL back to Ham Rong.
The group of 3 people including coach Duong Minh Ninh, doctor Dao Trong Tri and striker Paollo took a plane to Buon Ma Thuot, before being taken by HAGL Club's car to Pleiku.
HAGL Club CEO Nguyen Tan Anh said: "Diakite and Brandao flew to Malaysia to return home. Striker Paollo returned to Gia Lai to pick up his wife and children.
According to the plan, he and his family would fly from Gia Lai to Ho Chi Minh City on August 13, then catch a flight back to Brazil on August 14. But who would have thought that the accident would come so suddenly that it would leave me and all the members of the HAGL Club stunned."

Rookie Paollo Madeira Oliveira (born in 1996) has scored 6 goals this season for HAGL Club. He possesses speed, enthusiastic playing style and plays quite well with his compatriot Brandao.
Mr. Nguyen Tan Anh added: "Mr. Ba Duc has directed the HAGL Club to proactively support and arrange the best funeral for the members who unfortunately had an accident. The HAGL Club will coordinate with the family to take care of everything. Initially, the HAGL Club will cut 2 groups to bring 2 Vietnamese members, Coach Duong Minh Ninh and Doctor Dao Trong Tri, home to take care of the funeral. In the case of striker Paollo, because he is a foreigner, the club will have to wait for the completion of the procedures according to regulations and support his wife to bring this player back home in a thoughtful manner."
