Provincial Border Guard: Effectively combating illegal transportation of goods across the border

According to the assessment, the situation of smuggling and illegal transportation of goods through the border areas and border gates of the province always has the potential to become complicated. To ensure effective prevention of all types of crimes right at the border gate, the Quang Ninh Border Guard Command has proactively deployed synchronous control measures, promptly handling arising security and order issues in the border areas and border gates before, during and after the Lunar New Year 2025.

According to the assessment of the Provincial Border Guard Command, recently, criminals often take advantage of the complex border terrain and erratic climate to illegally transport goods across the border and sea. The goods are mainly poultry breeds, seafood, frozen food from poultry, household appliances, etc. The methods and tricks of criminals are increasingly sophisticated and potentially complicated. The subjects often take advantage of the early morning and late afternoon, taking advantage of trails across the border to hire people living in villages and hamlets near the border to illegally transport goods across the border, then use cars to transport them inland for consumption.

In 2024, the provincial Border Guard force successfully organized 5 special projects and 10 operational plans; independent units arrested and handled a total of 313 cases/461 subjects violating the law on drugs, illegal immigration, smuggling, transporting goods of unknown origin, illegal exploitation of aquatic products... The provincial Border Guard also coordinated with functional forces to arrest 10 cases/36 subjects illegally transporting goods through border areas, border gates, and island waters of the province.

Faced with the complicated developments of various types of crimes on the two border lines of the province, closely following the directives of superiors and the province, the Provincial Border Guard Command proactively developed and implemented Plan No. 4476/KH-BCH (dated November 9, 2024) on launching a peak period of attacking and suppressing crimes, preventing smuggling activities, and illegal transportation of goods across the border before, during and after the Lunar New Year 2025.

The Youth Union and Women's Union of the Provincial Border Guard presented Tet gifts to people in difficult circumstances in the border area.

The provincial Border Guard also directed specialized departments, offices, and border posts to focus on doing a good job of basic investigation of key routes and areas; documenting suspicious lines, subjects, organizations, warehouses for gathering smuggled goods, specialized means of transport, subjects specializing in protecting smuggling in domestic and foreign areas; transportation routes, investigating and verifying methods, tricks, and rules of operation to have effective prevention plans. Strengthen patrolling, controlling, and closely monitoring people, vehicles, and imported goods through border gates and borders; promptly detect, arrest, and handle acts of smuggling, trade fraud, and illegal transportation of goods across the border; not to form hot spots and complications of smuggling in border areas and border gates.

At the same time, proactively coordinate closely with functional forces in exchanging information, implementing plans to patrol, control, and block areas and routes for transporting smuggled goods; prevent and eliminate points and gathering places for smuggled goods in border areas and coastal areas; closely inspect and monitor means of transporting goods from border gates and borders into the inland; at the same time, propagate and mobilize people not to participate, assist and proactively denounce crimes.

With drastic and appropriate solutions, the border and border gate situation in the province has basically stabilized by the end of the year. Promoting the achieved results, the provincial Border Guard has directed grassroots units to continue to focus on patrolling and controlling the border routes. Thereby, continuing to effectively combat all types of crimes, especially smuggling, trade fraud, and illegal transportation of goods across the border areas, seas, and islands of the province.
