Pho Yen - New development pace

After merging administrative units, Pho Yen ward entered a new development phase with an increasingly prosperous urban appearance. The government and people here have been effectively exploiting the potential of industry, trade and services. The development of industrial zones and clusters along with a synchronous infrastructure system opens up many job opportunities, improves people's lives, and creates a driving force to promote comprehensive socio-economic development.

Many workers in Pho Yen ward work in industrial parks with stable income and increasingly improved lives.

Dynamic industrial city

In recent times, Pho Yen ward has undergone a strong transformation, the urban appearance is increasingly improving. The traffic system has been invested synchronously, connecting conveniently with the Hanoi - Thai Nguyen expressway and large industrial zones such as Yen Binh, Nam Pho Yen, creating momentum for socio -economic development.

According to the leaders of Pho Yen ward, the rapid urbanization process has led to a great demand for services, commerce, housing and employment. Along with the appearance of many domestic and foreign enterprises, thousands of local workers have had the opportunity to work right in their hometown, the material and spiritual life of the people is increasingly improved.

In the past, most young people of working age had to go far away to work, but now many have returned to work in factories and workshops. Pho Yen Ward currently has more than 44,200 people, of which over 27,700 are of working age. Currently, there are more than 17,800 workers working in industrial parks and clusters in and near the area; the rate of trained workers is about 82%.

There are nearly 500 factories, companies and businesses operating in the ward, mainly concentrated in areas of the old Pho Yen city such as Ba Hang, Bai Bong, Dac Son and Hong Tien. Two large industrial parks, Diem Thuy and Yen Binh, provide jobs for tens of thousands of workers in the ward and neighboring localities, contributing to solving the "problem" of employment for the people.

Mr. Ngo Ngoc Tam, Head of the Culture and Society Department of Pho Yen Ward, said: Industrialization not only changes the face of the city but also creates a stable source of income for the people. Local workers have more job opportunities, can learn a trade and improve their skills and technical level.

Currently, local businesses operate in a variety of fields: Garment, mechanical engineering, electricity - electronics, construction materials, industrial logistics services... Every year, hundreds of new local workers are recruited; of which young workers aged 18-25 account for more than 60%.

Many people after being trained have become skilled workers, technicians or managers, actively contributing to the production and economic development of the ward.

At Yen Binh Industrial Park - where many FDI enterprises such as Samsung, Dongwha, New One... are concentrated, there are tens of thousands of workers working in shifts every day. Although newly established and operating for about 2 years, GV Industrial Co., Ltd. has stabilized production, recruited more than 60 local workers and established a grassroots trade union, creating a foundation to care for workers' rights.

Ms. Duong Thi Mai, an assembly worker at the Company, shared: Working stably in my hometown, with guaranteed income and a safe environment helps me feel secure in staying with the company for a long time.

Workers in industrial zones are cared for, their lives are looked after and their legitimate rights are guaranteed.

In addition to industrial development, Pho Yen ward also focuses on expanding services, trade, building civilized residential areas, synchronous social infrastructure, gradually forming a modern urban appearance. The school system, medical stations, and cultural institutions are invested and upgraded to meet the living and social security needs of the people.

Towards sustainable development

The industrialization process in Pho Yen ward has opened up many job opportunities for workers thanks to attracting investment projects, especially in the industrial sector. Along with that, commercial and service activities such as restaurants, eateries, convenience stores, logistics services... have developed strongly, meeting the increasing living needs of people and workers in the area.

However, in addition to opportunities, industrialization also poses many challenges. A part of the population has to convert agricultural land to adapt to new production and service models; the elderly or low-skilled labor force has difficulty finding suitable jobs.

Faced with that reality, the Pho Yen ward government identified vocational training, job counseling and referral as key solutions to ensure long-term livelihoods for people, while creating human resources to meet the requirements of industrial and urban development in the new period.

The Ring Road V of the Hanoi Capital Region passing through Thai Nguyen province contributes to connecting industrial zones and clusters in the South, creating a driving force to promote socio-economic development, including Pho Yen ward.

Mr. Nguyen Viet Hung, Chairman of Pho Yen Ward People's Committee, said: Every year, we coordinate with the Provincial Employment Service Center, vocational training facilities and enterprises to organize many short-term training courses to supply local labor resources. The ward also identifies industrial development associated with civilized urban construction as one of the key tasks of the 2025-2030 term.

It is worth noting that in the process of industrial development, Pho Yen people have always shown the spirit of solidarity, diligence, creativity and especially the consensus in changing the way of thinking and doing. Many households have proactively given up land for projects, boldly invested in building boarding houses, housing for workers, opened food and beverage services, and trading, contributing to the formation of a bustling and dynamic urban space.

Many households have become rich thanks to promptly grasping economic transition trends, thereby creating positive spillover effects in the community.

Thanks to that dynamism and consensus, Pho Yen ward has increasingly affirmed its role as the center of industrial and service development in the southern region of Thai Nguyen province. The average economic growth rate is over 12%/year; the average income per capita is over 80 million VND/year.

The strong development of industrial zones and clusters not only creates economic breakthroughs, contributes to shifting the labor structure and improving people's lives, but also affirms Pho Yen's position as a dynamic and modern industrial city.

In the coming time, Pho Yen ward will continue to focus on urban development planning associated with environmental protection, expanding social services, improving the quality of human resources and building grassroots cultural life. This is an important premise for the Party Committee, government and people of Pho Yen to be determined to successfully implement the goals of the Resolution of the 1st Ward Party Congress, term 2025-2030, towards the goal of sustainable, civilized and prosperous development.
