On May 3, speaking with Tuoi Tre Online , Mr. Nguyen Van Minh - Vice Chairman of Nha Trang City People's Committee - said that the agency's professional departments are verifying and checking information posted by tourists on social networks about food bills at a floating raft on Nha Trang Bay with "disgusting" prices.

Before that, on the evening of May 2, the social network Facebook spread an article titled "If you haven't been there, you don't know Nha Trang. When you come back, you will understand the saying "don't listen to the taxi driver's story, don't listen to the cyclo driver's explanation" or they will take you to a faraway island... Just got to the fishing village, so scared, I asked to go home."

The article is accompanied by a picture of the bill for food and drinks totaling 2.78 million VND for two guests. Notably, the boxfish: unit price 3.5 million VND/kg, 0.5kg totaled 1.75 million VND.

Under the article, many people expressed their anger that the restaurant had upset tourists, while others requested clarification on prices, holiday surcharges, etc. to avoid affecting local tourism .

Talking to us, Ms. Le Thi Tuyet Hang - owner of the floating raft mentioned above - said that the incident happened at noon on May 2, the above bill belonged to two tourists from the northern provinces.

Explaining why 1kg of boxfish costs 3.5 million VND, Ms. Hang said that because she had to deduct a "commission" of about 30% for the canoe carrying passengers to the floating raft and many other expenses, she had to sell it at that price.

According to Ms. Hang, when customers choose a dish, she also tells them in advance that it is a live, swimming coffin fish. If they agree to eat it at that price, then they can eat it, and she does not force them to eat anything.

Tuoi Tre Online raised the issue of whether the floating rafts have listed prices or set up price lists for the boxfish for tourists. Ms. Hang said, "If customers want to eat any fish, they can say the price. If they agree to eat it, they can catch it. If not, they can't."

Also according to Ms. Hang, on the evening of May 2, she contacted to explain and return 780,000 VND to the two tourists.

Last night and this morning, Tuoi Tre Online reporters tried to contact the two guests mentioned above to verify the information, but as of noon today, they have not received any response.
