On July 21, Tran Van Thoi General Hospital ( Ca Mau province) announced that the team of doctors from the hospital's Obstetrics and Gynecology Department had successfully performed a caesarean section for the mother HTTM (living in Khanh Binh commune, Ca Mau province). The newborn baby boy weighed 5.8 kg and cried healthily right after birth.

Directly participating in the surgery, Dr. Du Kim Ngan, Deputy Head of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department, said that the pregnant woman was admitted to the hospital when she was 39 weeks and 4 days pregnant, past her due date. After examination, the doctors determined that this was a case of a large fetus with a high risk of complications if she gave birth naturally, so they decided to perform a cesarean section to ensure the safety of the mother and baby.
This is Ms. M's third child. According to the hospital, in the previous two births, the babies weighed more than 3 kg, but there were no signs of exceeding the weight threshold like this time. "With large fetuses weighing over 4.5 kg, especially nearly 6 kg like this case, the risk of obstetric complications is always present, especially when the mother has given birth many times. Proactive and timely cesarean section is the key factor to help the birth be absolutely safe," Dr. Ngan added.
