Hanoi's first public hospital launches Tissue Bank - Stem Cell Center

Director of Hanoi Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital Mai Trong Hung said that in the context of world medicine entering the era of regenerative medicine, stem cell technology is considered the key to opening many advanced, safe and potential treatment directions for patients. The establishment of the Tissue Bank - Stem Cell Center is not only a testament to the hospital's vision, but also demonstrates the hospital's commitment to applying modern scientific achievements in clinical practice, bringing optimal methods in high-quality treatment, catching up with international standards.

The Tissue Bank - Stem Cell Center has been invested in synchronously with modern infrastructure and advanced equipment. This is a pioneering public unit in the field of stem cell storage and application for reproductive health care, newborns and specialized medical treatment. Director of Hanoi Department of Science and Technology Tran Anh Tuan presented flowers and the decision to establish the Tissue Bank; the decision to operate the Tissue Bank of the Ministry of Health congratulated the leaders of Hanoi Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital.

Stem cells are not only for storage, but also the key to opening up treatment opportunities in the future; supporting the treatment of hematological, immunological, tissue damage diseases, as well as advanced applications in regenerative medicine. The center aims to become the core of stem cell research and application in Vietnam. This is an important milestone marking the application of modern medicine in health care, reproductive health, disease prevention, and treatment of diseases from stem cells and is assessed and licensed by the Ministry of Health.

The center operates the stem cell processing process using fully automated extraction technology, minimizing errors and optimizing collection efficiency. All activities take place in a clean room system that meets GMP standards and ISO levels specifically for cell manipulation. The hospital is equipped with a complex of advanced equipment: a precise microenvironment control incubator; an automatic cord blood stem cell separation system.

Flow-through quality analysis technology with the ability to read up to 10 fluorescence channels; and a large-scale liquid nitrogen storage facility that can simultaneously store over 5,000 hematopoietic stem cell units. This S&T infrastructure helps ensure the purity, viability and stability of each stem cell sample over many years.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Director of the Hanoi Department of Science and Technology Tran Anh Tuan emphasized that in the current era of growth and integration, the birth of Resolution 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and national digital transformation; Resolution 72-NQ/TW of the Politburo on a number of breakthrough solutions, strengthening the protection, care and improvement of people's health are very important. These two resolutions have a close relationship with each other, with a strategic and long-term vision related to the development of science and technology, especially in the field of health and health care for people in Hanoi.
