Provincial Party Secretary Le Minh Ngan and the Lai Chau Provincial Delegation worked with Vietnam Electricity Group

Participating in the working delegation were comrade Giang A Tinh - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; leaders of: Provincial Party Committee Office, Provincial People's Committee Office, Department of Industry and Trade, Lai Chau Electricity Company.

Lai Chau is a mountainous province with great potential for renewable energy development, especially hydropower, solar power, wind power and biomass power. According to the adjusted Power Plan VIII, by 2030, the total additional capacity of power sources in the area will reach more than 2,400 MW; including the expansion project of Ban Chat Hydropower Plant (110 MW), Lai Chau Hydropower Plant (400 MW), Huoi Quang Hydropower Plant (260 MW) and a number of floating solar power projects on large hydropower reservoirs.

Up to now, the whole province has invested in the power grid system to 38/38 communes and wards, serving the production and daily life of the people. However, there are still 2,853 households in 167 villages and hamlets that have not used the national grid. On that basis, Lai Chau province recommends that Vietnam Electricity Group pay attention and soon allocate resources to invest in power supply for these areas, striving to reach 99% of households with electricity by 2030 according to the Resolution of the 15th Provincial Party Congress.

At the meeting, the Provincial People's Committee requested Vietnam Electricity to focus on accelerating the progress of power transmission projects in the area such as: Lai Chau 500kV transformer station, Muong Te 220kV station, Than Uyen, Phong Tho, Pac Ma, and 220kV lines connecting the areas, to ensure the capacity of new power sources is released. At the same time, it requested Vietnam Electricity to direct the Power Project Management Boards to review and adjust the planning of floating solar power projects to avoid overlap, ensure effective use of land and water surface and be consistent with the development planning of the province.

Speaking at the meeting, Comrade Le Minh Ngan - Secretary of Lai Chau Provincial Party Committee highly appreciated the role and important contributions of Vietnam Electricity Group to the development of the province in recent times. He emphasized that EVN has accompanied Lai Chau for many years, contributing about 50% to the total industrial production value of the whole province, contributing to promoting socio -economic development, gradually erasing the "blank sheet" of electricity, improving people's lives, especially in remote, isolated and border areas.

The Provincial Party Secretary affirmed that Lai Chau province is committed to directing departments, branches and localities to actively coordinate with the Group in removing difficulties and obstacles for each specific project, especially power transmission projects in 2025, contributing to serving the socio-economic development of the province. The immediate task, in October, the Provincial Party Secretary assigned Comrade Giang A Tinh - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee to preside over and closely coordinate with Vietnam Electricity Group to direct departments, branches and localities to review and thoroughly resolve difficulties and obstacles.

Regarding the three key projects to expand the Lai Chau, Huoi Quang and Ban Chat hydropower plants, the Provincial Party Secretary requested the Group to promptly deploy and speed up the progress, striving to complete the projects in the period of 2026 - 2030, contributing to ensuring stable electricity supply, serving the socio-economic development and energy security of Lai Chau province.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Dang Hoang An - Chairman of the Board of Members of Vietnam Electricity Group reported on the production and business situation and the implementation of the Group's projects in the province. He expressed his thanks and appreciated the coordination and support of the province for the Group to implement electricity projects in the area. On behalf of the Group, he committed to join hands with the province in the coming time to achieve the goal of eliminating "blank sheets" of electricity in the area. In the immediate future, the Group will implement the elimination of 3 "blank sheets" of electricity with the amount of 32 billion VND and coordinate well with the departments, branches and localities of the province in implementing the contents agreed at the meeting.

During the working session, the leaders of the two sides presented souvenirs and visited some functional rooms at Vietnam Electricity Group.
