Regarding the issue of contacting and communicating with Vu Cat Tuong's team, Lam Bao Ngoc confirmed that she had contacted her former management company to establish contact.

According to the singer, on the morning of October 10th, a representative from her former management company confirmed (via phone) that they had contacted a representative from Vu Cat Tuong's team. However, Bao Ngoc was not informed of the details of that conversation, only that "an exchange had taken place."

"However, after confirming with the relevant parties, Ngoc realized she made a mistake by not carefully checking the information provided by the company regarding contact with Vu Cat Tuong," she stated.

Lam Bao Ngoc also explained that, because she was unaware that Vu Cat Tuong had stopped using her old phone number, she continued trying to communicate via text message. Therefore, when she didn't receive a response, she shared the information to help the audience understand and clarify the issues that were causing discussion.

"Lam Bao Ngoc did not engage in any actions of attacking, slandering, or falsely accusing Vu Cat Tuong and her team. Throughout the exchange via email and public sharing, Ngoc and her team were very cooperative and wanted to exchange information and clarify the matter, while also offering their apologies," the female singer stated.

Lam Bao Ngoc admitted her shortcomings. She stated that she will stop performing the song "If" on all stages and at all events.

In addition, the singer and her team will continue working with the Vietnam Copyright Protection Center for Music (VCPMC) to review programs that have shortcomings in fulfilling performance copyright obligations, in order to address these issues and ensure the legal rights of Vu Cat Tuong and her company are protected.

In the event that she is unable to contact or recover the costs from the organizing units, the singer requests permission to proactively pay all outstanding expenses herself.

The full story of the controversy surrounding Lam Bao Ngoc and Vu Cat Tuong.

Previously, on October 7th, a post allegedly from Vu Cat Tuong's team addressed the issue of the widespread unauthorized use of her songs.

The post didn't name anyone specifically, but many viewers mentioned Lam Bao Ngoc and believed she was the person referred to in the post.

On October 8th, Lam Bao Ngoc stated on her personal page that there was an article specifically naming her and attaching her image to the song "If". Therefore, she decided to speak out to clarify the situation and provide a clearer picture for the public.

She confirmed that this song had been authorized to VCPMC by singer-songwriter Vu Cat Tuong.

Therefore, she and the organizing units are always aware of and fully fulfill their responsibilities regarding copyright, obtaining permission and paying fees at VCPMC to perform this song.

"Specifically, in her solo show, Ngoc Mini Concert, which took place in December 2023, Ngoc and her team requested permission to perform a list of 16 songs, including the song "If".

The list of musical pieces and the receipts for copyright fees were attached by Lam Bao Ngoc's team to the application for a performance permit submitted to the relevant authorities.

Regarding the uploading of cover clips to her personal YouTube channel, Lam Bao Ngoc has also paid royalties for the use of copyright with VCPMC and has given full credit in the details section," Lam Bao Ngoc explained.

Regarding the incident, she contacted Vu Cat Tuong's team directly to resolve the issue but has not yet received a response. The singer also apologized to Vu Cat Tuong and the audience following the incident for causing everyone distress.

According to Vũ Cát Tường's team, Lâm Bảo Ngọc performed the song "If" at several events and tea house music nights without permission.

However, on the evening of October 10th, Vu Cat Tuong posted a response to Lam Bao Ngoc's earlier announcement.

Regarding Lam Bao Ngoc's repeated performances of "If," the singer's representatives have collected and verified the data provided by VCPMC. After the verification process, Vu Cat Tuong's team confirmed that "If" was licensed for online release on Lam Bao Ngoc's channel from January 16th to January 15th, 2026, and licensed for performance at Ngoc's mini-concert in December 2023.

However, from May 2019 to the present, at numerous minishows, ticketed tea rooms, and commercial music venues, Lam Bao Ngoc has performed works by Vu Cat Tuong without any contract or written authorization from VCPMC.

The musician's side claims to have a list of performances by Lam Bao Ngoc featuring many of Vu Cat Tuong's works over the past five years without permission or authorization.

To optimize the protection and exploitation of copyright for the work, Vu Cat Tuong's team has revoked all copyright authorizations from If from third parties, effective October 9th.

If they want to perform or commercially exploit the opportunity, the singer or their agency must contact Vu Cat Tuong directly.

Regarding Lam Bao Ngoc's statement that she contacted Vu Cat Tuong's team to resolve the issue, the singer born in 1992 responded: "After checking the phone number, postal box, and publicly available email address, we confirm that from October 7th to before 8 PM on October 8th (the time when the singer herself posted content on mass media mentioning the author and the work), we did not receive any text messages, notifications, or written emails sent from the singer."

Vũ Cát Tường's team further stated that as soon as they learned of this inaccurate information, on the afternoon of October 9th, they proactively sent an email requesting Lâm Bảo Ngọc to clarify the information she had posted on social media without verification, which "affected the reputation of Vũ Cát Tường and her team."

"However, later that same day, Lam Bao Ngoc's representative responded, stating that they had contacted Vu Cat Tuong's representative but could not provide any evidence.

When further requested to provide evidence, Lam Bao Ngoc's team stated that they had contacted Vu Cat Tuong's old personal phone number, which was no longer in use and was not a publicly available or official contact information. Therefore, they could not respond without receiving any notification," Vu Cat Tuong's team stated.
