During the April 30 and May 1 holidays, Dinh Thi Thu Huyen (30 years old) in Nho Quan district ( Ninh Binh ) was busy from morning to night. Guests flocked to the Dong Windmill farm, so she had to ask for help from her parents and husband.

For nearly 2 years now, the Windmill farm tourist spot built by Huyen next to Cuc Phuong National Park has attracted a large number of visitors. The windmill, stilt house, livestock farm, flower garden or miniature landscapes created by the Muong girl are loved by many young people. Anyone who comes here is fascinated and does not want to leave.
Huyền said that to have the property as it is today, she had to go through many difficulties. "Before the garden became a popular "check-in" spot, my family left it abandoned, weeds growing everywhere because the land was barren and could not grow anything. It took me more than a year to renovate it to my liking," Huyền said.

Having said that, the farm owner who is currently causing a stir in Ninh Binh continued to confide that her main job before was a propagandist for Cuc Phuong National Park, specializing in going to schools to teach students about forest protection. Once on a business trip, she had an accident and had to give up her dream.
That was in 2019, Huyen fell off a motorbike and broke her leg, her health declined so she had to quit her job. While struggling to find a suitable job to earn more income, when she went to her parents' house to visit, she saw the garden next to the house that had been abandoned for many years, the scene of the villagers still being poor for many years made her restless at night.
Having to give up her dream of becoming a forest ranger, Ms. Huyen returned home to farm, opening her door to welcome guests with a high income.
Seeing the increasing number of tourists coming to Cuc Phuong forest, Huyen came up with the idea of turning her family's wild garden into a tourist destination for everyone to visit.
"When I had the idea, I went online to find tourism models that would suit my family's garden. Being passionate about flower fields, farms, and windmills, the Dutch girl found her home garden very suitable for the setting, so she decided to build a windmill farm in her own way," Huyen shared.
When starting her business, Huyen borrowed money from relatives to renovate the entire garden, plant grass, and build miniature landscapes. The main setting was the giant windmill in the middle of the garden.
The animals in the garden are carefully taken care of by Ms. Huyen to serve guests taking photos.
While building the landscape, the 9X woman spent money to buy many animal breeds to raise. "In the early days, I spent nearly 50 million to buy bamboo rats for breeding. But after a short time, all the bamboo rats died without knowing the reason. So 50 million VND was gone in a flash," Huyen recalled.
Seeing that famous tourist spots had cute sheep and goats, Huyen traveled to Ninh Thuat to buy 170 million VND worth of sheep breeds. She ended up buying old sheep that were not suited to the climate. The flock of nearly 40 sheep got sick and almost all died.
Not only bamboo rats, sheep, but also goats, horses, rabbits, in the beginning she raised, all of them died, got sick, making the girl cry her eyes out, many nights she could not eat or sleep because she regretted the money she had spent. Determined to do it, Huyen did not give up, continued to be strong to rebuild from the beginning.
Failure with the first batch of sheep led to losses, Ms. Huyen learned a lesson to take better care of them.
Failure gave her more experience. So when she bought the next animals, she took better care of them and successfully raised them to build a beautiful farm. More and more tourists came from everywhere.
"My farm is far from the center, the road to get there is also difficult, so at first there were very few customers. Then word of mouth spread, photos taken by customers at the farm became a "fever" on the internet, so more and more people came. Mostly young people and young families come here. In addition to charging entrance fees, I also rent costumes for people to take photos and provide other services," Huyen said.
The young owner estimated that every year there are tens of thousands of visitors coming to visit and use the services at the farm. The estimated revenue is from 500 to 600 million VND. During the holidays when there are many visitors, she also creates more jobs for the local people to earn more income.
When guests come to the farm, Ms. Huyen puts on makeup and takes pictures to have the most beautiful moments in her family's garden.
Currently, Huyen's Windmill Farm only serves visitors who come to visit, take photos and eat at a small scale. She plans to expand the garden when she has capital to serve visitors who come to eat, relax and enjoy the fresh mountain and forest space. Only then will she have more revenue.
"I regret having to give up my job at the national park. My dream of being a forest ranger did not come true, but I am very happy to work on a farm welcoming tourists because I will have the opportunity to share the knowledge I have accumulated with everyone, so that everyone can understand and love the forest more," Huyen confided.
