On October 19th, the Department of Education and Training of Phu Tho province announced that, recognizing the importance of ensuring food safety in school cafeterias, the provincial Department of Education and Training has implemented many specific and practical measures to improve the quality of meals for children, contributing to preventing health risks and malnutrition in schools.
The Department of Education and Training of Phu Tho province has issued numerous directives and requests to the People's Committees of communes and wards to strengthen inspection and supervision of food safety, school safety, and childcare at preschools according to their respective management levels.
The Department of Education and Training of Phu Tho province requires schools to strictly implement food safety control procedures from the stages of raw material procurement, preliminary processing, processing, storage, and serving.
The principal, or owner of a preschool, is directly responsible for the quality, origin, and safety of food used in the school, especially nutritional supplements.
At Hung Vuong Kindergarten (Phu Tho Ward), the organization of the school canteen is carried out seriously and systematically. Ms. Le Thi Bich Thuy, the school principal, said: "Right from the beginning of the school year, the school has signed contracts with reputable food suppliers that have all the necessary legal documents in accordance with food safety regulations."
All raw materials are thoroughly inspected, tracked in logbooks, and food samples are stored according to proper procedures. The one-way kitchen layout is scientifically organized, ensuring hygiene throughout the preparation, processing, and serving process.
Phu Tho province currently has 1,120 preschools. The care, nurturing, and safety of children continue to be implemented seriously and effectively. 100% of preschools provide meals for children, ensuring food safety and hygiene.
Educational institutions proactively coordinate with the health sector to inspect water sources, manage collective kitchens, and prevent diseases, malnutrition, overweight, and obesity. 100% of children have their health monitored and their nutritional status assessed using growth charts; the rate of children participating in school lunch programs reaches 98.9%, ensuring adequate and balanced meals appropriate for their age.
