Innovate the curriculum and improve the quality of training.
During the period 2021-2025, the Thai Nguyen University branch in Lao Cai province has continuously undergone comprehensive reforms in management, training organization, and the improvement of faculty quality and facilities, making a significant contribution to training high-quality human resources for Lao Cai province and the Northwest region.
Based on the development orientation of Thai Nguyen University, the branch campus has implemented training plans for each academic year and each course with high consensus and closely aligned with the practical needs of the locality. Training programs are reviewed, updated, and adjusted according to output standards, in line with the requirements of the Ministry of Education and Training and current career trends.
During the period 2021–2025, the branch campus offered training in the following fields: Economics , Tourism and Travel Service Management, Agriculture and Forestry, Chinese Language, and Education. Despite periods of fluctuating enrollment in some specialized fields, the number of students remained stable, ensuring the development roadmap was followed as planned.
In particular, the standardization of course syllabi, innovation in teaching methods, and increased application of information technology have brought about positive changes in the quality of training. Blended learning models, the use of learning management systems (LMS), electronic learning materials, simulation software, etc., are being implemented increasingly effectively, creating a modern learning environment and promoting student initiative.
One of the highlights of the Branch Campus over the years has been its proactive collaboration with agencies, organizations, and businesses inside and outside the province to expand internship, practical training, and career guidance opportunities for students. Many experts and businesses have been invited to share their professional experiences, organize job seminars, and recruitment fairs right at the Branch Campus.
This activity not only helps students hone their professional skills but also allows the school to adjust its training programs to meet the workforce needs of society. Sending students to local businesses for practical experience also contributes to strengthening the connection between the school and the community, creating favorable conditions for long-term collaborative training.
The branch campus has effectively implemented training management tasks in accordance with the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training and Thai Nguyen University. Study plans, timetables, exam schedules, and academic regulations are fully updated and publicly available, creating convenience for students and lecturers.
The application of technology in management has been enhanced with software for managing training, attendance, and evaluating learning outcomes, making the operational process transparent and accurate. At the same time, the school has strengthened inspection and supervision of the implementation of the curriculum and teaching content, ensuring the quality of each course.
Student management is carried out comprehensively through individual files, administrative classes, and course modules. Regular assessments of student conduct are implemented, linked to extracurricular activities and student organizations, helping students develop holistically in terms of knowledge, skills, and attitude.
Dedicated faculty, well-invested facilities.
One of the key factors contributing to the success of the branch campus is the close guidance and support from Thai Nguyen University, the Provincial Party Committee, the People's Committee of Lao Cai province, and local departments and agencies. In addition, the branch campus's faculty and administrative staff are constantly being strengthened, possessing high professional qualifications, a strong sense of responsibility, and dedication to their profession.
The branch campus regularly organizes training courses on pedagogical methods, digital skills, and professional expertise for lecturers; and encourages participation in scientific research and textbook compilation. However, in some specialized fields, the number of full-time lecturers is limited, so the school has to invite visiting lecturers from member schools, which sometimes causes difficulties in scheduling classes.
In addition, investment in teaching facilities and equipment continues. Although some practice and experiment rooms still do not fully meet the requirements of the curriculum reform, the significant improvement in infrastructure has contributed to enhancing the effectiveness of teaching and learning.
In 2025, the branch campus had a total of 501 students, of which 476 graduated on schedule. This included 382 university-level students and 94 college-level students.
Despite facing numerous challenges, particularly in student recruitment and the availability of full-time faculty, the Thai Nguyen University branch in Lao Cai province continues to maintain its development orientation, improving the quality of education and expanding social cooperation. A friendly learning environment and strong ties with the local community remain key strengths, helping the branch to make its mark in the higher education system of the mountainous region.
The period 2021-2025 marks the persistent efforts and remarkable achievements of the faculty, students, and staff of the branch campus. This also serves as an important foundation for the school to continue innovating, developing, and making positive contributions to building high-quality human resources for Lao Cai province and the Northwest region.
