Proud of tradition
In his opening speech, Associate Professor Dr. Ngo Nhu Khoa, Party Secretary and Chairman of the School Council, reviewed the 60-year journey of formation and development.
The school was established on August 19, 1965 under the name of Hanoi University of Science and Technology Branch in Thai Nguyen Iron and Steel Zone. The school was born in the middle of a fierce war, where teachers and students had to build classrooms with bamboo and thatch, steadfastly holding out amidst bombs and bullets.
From that heroic hardship, many generations of lecturers and students with the spirit of "Mechanics - Electricity" have created memorable milestones, the period of the University of Mechanics and Electricity (1966-1975); Viet Bac University of Industrial Technology, then Thai Nguyen University of Industry (1976-1994). From 1994 to present, named University of Industrial Technology, the unit continues to affirm its core role in the education system and is the center for training high-quality technical human resources for the country.
During 60 years of construction and development, the University of Industrial Technology has been honored to receive many noble awards from the Party and the State: Third-class Independence Medal (2001), Second-class Independence Medal (2005), the title of Labor Hero in the renovation period (2009), and many First, Second, and Third-class Labor Medals in different periods.

If in the beginning, the school only had 2 training majors and 2 Mechanical - Electrical classes, then up to now the school has developed strongly with 22 university majors, 6 master's majors, 4 doctoral majors, and 4 advanced and international joint programs taught in English. The number of students reached more than 15,000, including more than 13,000 full-time students. The employment rate after graduation reached over 94%, many majors reached 98%.
The school currently has a staff of more than 370 lecturers, of which the proportion of lecturers with PhD, Associate Professor, and Professor degrees is about 36%. This is the core force contributing to the strategy of improving the quality of training and scientific research in the digital transformation period of higher education.
Aspiration for innovation in the digital age
Sharing about the development orientation, Associate Professor Dr. Ngo Nhu Khoa emphasized: "The school will continue to firmly follow the innovation roadmap with a pioneering spirit, focusing on completing the construction of a comprehensive digital environment from training to management, prioritizing the development of the teaching staff, especially young lecturers who are well-trained in advanced countries and focusing on training talented engineers for key industries."
The school also aims to strengthen the relationship between the school - businesses - alumni to promote an innovative university model, closely linking training with research and technology transfer.
Along with that is the orientation to standardize and modernize facilities, especially building self-study spaces, laboratories, modern practice workshops, creating an environment for students to "be inspired and given the conditions to shine".

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Pham Ngoc Thuong acknowledged and congratulated the school's outstanding achievements over the past 60 years, a proud journey marked by the intelligence, dedication, creativity and enthusiasm of many generations of lecturers, staff and students.
The Deputy Minister requested the school to urgently develop programs, projects, and plans to implement the Party's Resolutions on education and training, innovation, science and technology... (Resolution 71, Resolution 57... of the Politburo) in accordance with the actual conditions of the school with the spirit of breakthrough and efficiency.
In particular, it is necessary to do a good job of ideological work, raise awareness, unify thoughts and actions to reorganize school apparatus according to Party resolutions, directions of the Government and the Ministry of Education and Training.
Pay attention to the work of discovering, planning, training, and improving the quality of the team of managers, lecturers, and scientists, the decisive factor in the training quality of the school. Managers and lecturers are the driving force, inspiring students to learn and follow in terms of ethics, knowledge, and personality.

Besides, schools must quickly review, update and change training programs in an open direction, focusing on developing learners' qualities and capacities to flexibly adapt to the development of the country and the times.
Promote comprehensive digital transformation in management and training, improve training quality and personalize learning, especially apply artificial intelligence (AI) to train intelligent people.
At the same time, maintain discipline, professional ethics and academic integrity, strongly develop applied research, transfer, start-up, taking products and social impact as measures.
Enhance facilities and equipment of high quality and modernity to better meet the research, teaching and learning needs of lecturers and students.
At the same time, continue to pay attention to, promote and further innovate political and ideological education for students and learners, creating an environment that encourages self-study and creative self-training. Build a young generation that is "both red and expert" in mastering knowledge, technology, modern professional skills, and has a strong political stance.
On this occasion, the school was honored to receive the Second Class Labor Medal.
