Billiards: Vietnamese player impressively defeats Turkish 'wizard'

Tran Duc Minh and his teammates extended their winning streak in the second round of the PBA Team League 2025 - 2026 Korean professional billiards tournament. In which, the Vietnamese player just contributed with 2 wins, helping Harim Dragons defeat Phoenix.

In the 8th round of the 2nd leg of the PBA Team League 2025 - 2025 taking place on August 24, Tran Duc Minh's Harim Dragons team faced off against a very strong team, Phoenix. The Phoenix team has two veteran players of the European 3-cushion carom billiards scene, Daniel Sanchez (Spain) and Semih Sayginer (Turkey). Sayginer is known to fans as the "billiards wizard" because he possesses skillful techniques and often performs showy shots to score points.

Tran Duc Minh and Kim Jun-tae defeated "witch" Sayginer and his teammates.

In the opening match (men's doubles), Tran Duc Minh and Kim Jun-tae faced Semih Sayginer/Han Ji-seung. Facing the Harim Dragons' in-form duo, veteran player Sayginer did not have much opportunity to show off. Right in the second round, Duc Minh and Kim Jun-tae showed good coordination and had a series of 9 points. Game 1 ended after 3 rounds, with the victory belonging to the Harim Dragons pair, with a score of 11/5.

Harim Dragons had a good start and took a 2-0 lead. However, the Phoenix members' excellence in the singles helped them regain the game, winning 3 consecutive games to take a 3-2 lead. Harim Dragons' player won the 6th game and tied the score at 3-3.

Tran Duc Minh entered the field to compete in the decisive 7th game. After 5 rounds, the Vietnamese World Cup billiards champion won 11-3 against Kim Jong-won. Duc Minh's final match helped Harim Dragons win a thrilling 4-3 victory over Phoenix.

Semih Sayginer is famous for his spontaneous playing style, scoring many times with eye-catching moves.

Meanwhile, Hana Card's winning streak was broken. Nguyen Quoc Nguyen's team lost to SY Builders (featuring Vietnamese female player Nguyen Hoang Yen Nhi). In the opening game (men's doubles), Quoc Nguyen and Shin Jung-ju won 11/7 against the opposing duo. After 4 games, Hana Card led 3-1.

But since the 5th game, Hana Card unexpectedly lost continuously. In the 5th game of the men's singles, Nguyen Quoc Nguyen lost with a score of 8/11 to Seo Hyun-min. In the end, Hana Card lost 3-4 to SY Builders. However, Hana Card is still leading the rankings of the 2025-2026 PBA Team League stage 2.
