Binh Dinh: Verifying the case of an 8th grade student being assaulted and hospitalized

On May 7, Mr. Nguyen Hung Tan, Vice Chairman of Tuy Phuoc District People's Committee (Binh Dinh Province) said that he had directed the People's Committee of Phuoc Hung Commune (Tuy Phuoc District) and the Commune Police to urgently investigate and clarify the case of an 8th grade male student in Phuoc Hung Commune who was beaten and hospitalized.

“This morning, I directed the Chairman of Phuoc Hung Commune People’s Committee and the Chief of Commune Police to immediately work with the parents and the school. First, we need to verify the specifics of the incident. If the incident is as reported by public opinion, we will assign Phuoc Hung Commune Police to take the lead in clarifying the cause. If there are any violations, we need to take strict measures according to regulations,” said Mr. Tan.

According to initial information, the victim was L.D.K., a student in class 8A4, Phuoc Hung Secondary School. The incident was filmed by some people, showing: K. was sitting on a chair and was repeatedly hit in the face with an aluminum basin by another male student. Then, the subject rushed forward and repeatedly punched the victim in the face and head...

On the same day (May 6), speaking to the press, Mr. LMKh. (in An Cuu village, Phuoc Hung commune; father of L.D.K.) said that K. is still being monitored and treated at the An Nhon Town Medical Center (Binh Dinh). When admitted to the hospital, K. suffered many injuries, swelling and bruising on the face and head.

According to the victim’s family, the incident occurred on May 5, near Phuoc Hung Secondary School. While K. was studying, some students from the same school called K. to a coffee shop near the school. Outside the school, K. was threatened and assaulted by another male student who had dropped out of school.

“At first, when he returned home, he did not dare to tell his family. However, because he was swollen and bruised, his family investigated the matter and persuaded them to take him to the hospital. We reported the incident to the school to ask the authorities to intervene and resolve the issue,” said a representative of K.’s family.

3 cases of student violence occurred in 1 month

As reported by SGGP, in the previous month (from March 23 to April 16), in An Nhon town, Phu Cat district (Binh Dinh province), there were 3 cases of female students being beaten up outside of school. Of these, 2 cases were filmed and posted on social media; 1 case had a complaint from the student's parents.

Specifically, on April 12, at De Gi bridge area (Cat Khanh commune, Phu Cat district), a 7th grade female student of My Thanh Secondary School was hit on the head with a helmet by a group of friends.

Previously, on March 23, in Binh Dinh ward (An Nhon town), an 8th grade female student of Binh Dinh Secondary School was beaten by two other female students.

Next, on April 16, at a snack shop in front of Nhon Hanh Secondary School (Nhon Hanh Commune, An Nhon Town), an 8th grade female student was assaulted by an 11th grade student from Hoa Binh High School.
