The first eco-industrial park in Vietnam
On May 17, Binh Duong started construction of Cay Truong Industrial Park in Bau Bang district, with a scale of 700 hectares and a total investment of more than VND5,459 billion. This is oriented to become the first ecological, green industrial park according to international standards, aiming at 4 breakthrough solutions, in which priority is given to attracting high-tech, environmentally friendly industries, such as: Using resources and energy efficiently; minimizing waste and carbon emissions; building industrial symbiosis, ensuring sustainable development. Cay Truong ecological industrial park is expected to create jobs for about 35,000 workers.
Along with that, Bau Bang Industrial Park expansion (phase 2) adds 380 hectares of clean land adjacent to the existing industrial park. This is also an "upgrade" project of the industrial park implemented by Becamex IDC with synchronous and modern infrastructure, ready to serve large-scale industrial production investors. In particular, the BWID joint venture factory area with an area of 250,000m² is an important highlight, the result of close cooperation between Becamex IDC and international partners, providing modern production space, meeting the increasing needs of investors. BWID's groundbreaking of an additional 1 million m2 of ready-built factories will also meet the needs of businesses and investors in the future.
Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh emphasized that Binh Duong has long affirmed its position as one of the leading localities in the country in socio -economic development, especially in the field of industry and investment attraction. The groundbreaking ceremony of Cay Truong Industrial Park is not only an important milestone in the province's development strategy but also a vivid demonstration of the pioneering vision of Binh Duong and Becamex IDC in transforming the development model from traditional industry to ecological, smart, and sustainable industrial parks. |
Mr. Vo Van Minh, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, said: "Becamex brand" has continuously made many important contributions not only to the socio-economic development of Binh Duong province, but also to many provinces and cities nationwide. From an initial project in Binh Duong, Becamex - VSIP has developed into a "chain" of over 20 industrial park - service - urban projects stretching from North to South, creating an open investment environment, attracting many leading domestic and foreign investors with modern infrastructure, meeting international standards, meeting the human resource requirements of investors in the region.
“In the face of increasingly strict new market requirements, in order to find the motivation to overcome the middle-income trap, Binh Duong has been reshaping its development model with major orientations such as transforming the industrial development model, upgrading existing industrial parks, building new green, ecological, and smart industrial parks with the ability to provide 4.0 technology platforms such as IoT, Big Data, etc.”, said Mr. Vo Van Minh.
Turning point for industrial development
Dr. Dang Quang Vinh, senior expert on economic development at the World Bank, said that the establishment and development of ecological industrial parks is a new trend in industrial development associated with sustainable development. Dr. Dang Quang Vinh highly appreciated the potential, orientation of ecological industrial park development and strategic cooperation in Binh Duong province, and believed that Cay Truong ecological industrial park will open a new chapter of development in the field of green industry.
Dr. Dang Quang Vinh said that the establishment of Cay Truong Eco-Industrial Park is a major turning point for industrial development in Vietnam, helping Vietnam become a country with EDGE green building certification system, meeting green building standards and international green building certification systems. “In the coming time, the World Bank will not only provide finance and support technical solutions but also be a connecting point between businesses and investors interested in the field of green industrial ecosystem development. The World Bank is committed to continuing to support Vietnam, as well as its partner Becamex IDC, in the process of upgrading industrial parks, green transformation, and sustainable development,” Dr. Dang Quang Vinh shared.

Believing that Becamex IDC is the pioneer in the strategy of converting to a new generation industrial park model, a green industrial park aiming for Net Zero emissions, contributing to realizing the goal of developing a green and sustainable economy set by Vietnam. The Deputy Prime Minister believes that with its experience and strengths, Becamex IDC will provide modern production space and environment, especially providing green and clean energy sources, contributing to the country's commitment to carbon neutrality by 2050. Cay Truong Ecological Industrial Park will certainly be a place to attract investors in the high-tech sector, developing a green economy, and strong digital transformation.
Mr. Vo Van Minh, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee: With the establishment of Cay Truong Eco-Industrial Park, the expanded Bau Bang Industrial Park (phase 2) will become a symbol of a smart, ecological industrial park integrating digital technology and renewable energy. Along with that, the concentrated Information Technology Park, with a scale of 15.47 hectares, will create a favorable environment for investment activities to attract domestic and foreign capital and technology. These are steps for Binh Duong province to step up to a higher level in the global industrial value chain to build a new ecosystem, complementing the existing ecosystem, to best meet the needs of domestic and international investors and workers in the period of comprehensive and increasingly deep integration. |
