On the morning of May 29, the Ministry of National Defense held a May 2025 meeting to evaluate the results of the direction and management of military and defense tasks in May and deploy key tasks in June 2025. General Phan Van Giang, Politburo member, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, Minister of National Defense chaired the meeting. The conference was connected online to 40 points throughout the army.

Attending the conference at the central bridge point of the Ministry of National Defense headquarters were comrades: Senior Lieutenant General Trinh Van Quyet, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Standing Member of the Central Military Commission, Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army; Senior General Nguyen Tan Cuong, Member of the Party Central Committee, Standing Member of the Central Military Commission, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, Deputy Minister of National Defense.

At the conference, leaders of the Ministry of National Defense, the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army, the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army and leaders and commanders of agencies and units reported and clarified the results of the implementation of military and defense tasks, Party activities, political work and pointed out the remaining shortcomings and limitations that need to be thoroughly overcome in the coming time. Accordingly, in May 2025, the Central Military Commission Standing Committee and leaders of the Ministry of National Defense led and directed the entire army to synchronously and resolutely complete all tasks of the month.

The entire army strictly maintains combat readiness, grasps and accurately forecasts the situation, proactively advises and effectively handles situations, avoids being passive or surprised, firmly protects territorial sovereignty; coordinates to maintain security and order nationwide. Proactively researches and reports to the Politburo for approval of the Project to continue to organize local military organizations to be lean, compact, and strong to meet mission requirements in the new situation.

Senior Lieutenant General Trinh Van Quyet spoke, requesting agencies and units to focus on doing well a number of Party and political tasks in June 2025.

Units have strengthened control and prevention of illegal entry and exit; resolutely and persistently fought, propagated, and chased away foreign ships that violated Vietnam's waters and prevented and combated illegal fishing. Well performed civil defense tasks; promptly mobilized nearly 9,000 troops, militia, and over 360 vehicles for natural disaster prevention, search and rescue, especially to overcome the consequences of floods and landslides in Lai Chau and Bac Kan provinces.

Training, sports and competitions at all levels were implemented effectively and practically. The Vietnam People's Army delegation participated in the parade in the Russian Federation to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War, ensuring safety and leaving a good impression. The entire army maintained regularity, built a strong and comprehensive "exemplary and typical" unit, and strictly maintained discipline and order.

General Nguyen Tan Cuong spoke, requesting agencies and units to do a good job of training, combat readiness, inspection, and evaluation.

The entire army attaches great importance to doing well the work of political and ideological education. The Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense direct agencies and units to promote studying and strictly implementing the resolutions, directives, conclusions and regulations of the Central Committee and the Central Military Commission. Actively carry out activities to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2; prepare to organize the 11th Military Emulation Congress. All levels thoroughly grasp and seriously implement the guidelines of the Central Committee and the Central Military Commission on Party building work; organize Party congresses at all levels for the 2025-2030 term strictly and in accordance with regulations. The entire army has stable ideology, high determination, ready to receive and complete well all assigned tasks.

Senior Lieutenant General Le Huy Vinh spoke to clarify some achievements in digital transformation and science and technology development.

Concluding the conference, General Phan Van Giang requested agencies and units to closely follow military and defense tasks and be more proactive and determined, focusing on comprehensively completing the key tasks identified in June 2025. Party committees and commanders at all levels continue to lead and direct agencies and units to strictly maintain combat readiness regimes, closely manage airspace, sea areas, borders, inland areas, cyberspace, especially strategic and key areas. Grasp, assess, and forecast the situation correctly, promptly advise and effectively handle situations, avoid being passive or surprised, and firmly protect territorial sovereignty.

Senior Lieutenant General Vu Hai San spoke, emphasizing a number of tasks that need to be focused on in basic construction investment and defense land management.

Minister Phan Van Giang noted that the relevant agencies actively reviewed the content and proactively coordinated to ensure the progress and quality of the draft laws before submitting them to the National Assembly for comments and approval: the Draft Law on Participation in the United Nations Peacekeeping Force; the Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of 11 laws on the military and defense fields and the Law on State of Emergency.

Strengthen inspection of the results of military and defense tasks and reorganize the local military organization system when implementing a two-level government. Complete the organizational structure, regulations on functions, tasks, and working relationships of newly established agencies and units; documents implementing the Project on streamlining the local military organization to be lean, compact, and strong to meet the requirements of tasks in the new situation...

Synchronously implement solutions to improve the quality of training, drills, competitions and sports events at all levels. Strengthen inspection of the completion of training phase 1-2025 and organize training for the marching and marching forces in the Rally to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2 to ensure quality.
