
At 8:10 a.m. on October 13, the Command of the Coast Guard Region 1 received information from Coast Guard boat 603 of Squadron 111 (Flight Division 11) which was on patrol and control duty in the Cat Ba island area about a crew member on the Thang Loi 668 (HP 6302) having a stroke. HP 6302 requested the Coast Guard to assist in transporting the person to the nearest shore to take the patient to the hospital for emergency treatment.
Immediately after receiving information about the incident, the Regional Command mobilized Coast Guard boat 603 (operating about 0.2 nautical miles from ship HP 6302) to quickly approach and provide support. After 15 minutes of traveling, Coast Guard boat 603 approached the cargo ship and coordinated with the crew on board to urgently transfer the patient to the boat to run to shore.
Through the situation, it is known that the cargo ship HP 6302 has 9 crew members, captained by Mr. Tran Huu Thuan, 57 years old, from Hai Phong city. While on the way to transport goods from An Giang to Hai Phong, when reaching buoy area number 15 of Lach Huyen channel, a sailor, Mr. Truong Ri Na, 39 years old, from An Trach commune, Ca Mau province, suffered a stroke and was paralyzed in all four limbs.
At 8:40 a.m. the same day, Coast Guard boat 603 transported the patient and 3 crew members of ship HP 6302 to Got wharf area in Cat Hai special zone (about 3 nautical miles), then assisted in transferring them to a car to take them to Vietnam - Czech Friendship Hospital for emergency treatment.
