Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee, Head of the Organizing Committee of the Con Son - Kiep Bac Autumn Festival 2025 Le Ngoc Chau reviewed the life and career of Hung Dao Dai Vuong Tran Quoc Tuan - a national hero, a military genius, who led the army and people of Dai Viet to defeat the invading Yuan-Mongol invaders three times.

Mr. Chau said that 725 years ago, on August 20, Canh Ty year (1300), Hung Dao Dai Vuong passed away in Van Kiep. To show gratitude for his merits, the people built Kiep Bac temple to worship him. Since then, over seven centuries, the heroic spirit of Dong A and the leniency and tolerance of the people that he left behind have remained intact, becoming the eternal pride of the Vietnamese people.

“On the occasion of the 725th anniversary of his death, we respectfully pay tribute to our ancestors who built and defended the country; vow to unite and promote the tradition of the heroic Port City - the cultured Eastern region, to build Hai Phong to become increasingly rich, civilized and modern,” the Chairman of the Hai Phong City People's Committee emphasized.

The 2025 Con Son - Kiep Bac Autumn Festival will take place from October 1st on the largest scale ever. The ceremony will be solemnly held, following traditional rituals; the festival will be rich, associated with cultural experiences, tourism, cuisine and craft villages.

The Culture - Tourism and Trade Promotion Week is a highlight, introducing OCOP products, typical craft villages, unique culinary spaces and launching new tours, helping visitors get closer to the historical, cultural and spiritual quintessence of the heritage area.

At the festival, Hai Phong announced the city's heritages that have been recognized by UNESCO. In July 2025, the Con Son - Kiep Bac Monuments and Landscape Complex, along with Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem, were honored as World Cultural Heritage, demonstrating the everlasting vitality and depth of Vietnamese culture.

In this complex, Hai Phong has five typical relics including Con Son Pagoda, Thanh Mai Pagoda, Kiep Bac Temple, Nham Duong Pagoda and Kinh Chu Cave - "precious gems" reflecting the history, culture and beliefs of the nation over nearly seven centuries.
