On the morning of August 8, the Chinese U21 women's volleyball team faced South Korea in Group B. China is the defending champion of the tournament. Meanwhile, South Korea is struggling to regain its past glory.
Obviously, there is a difference in the level of the two teams. But with a history of many fateful confrontations, fans still expect the U21 Korean team to create difficulties for their opponents.
Entering the match, it was true that Korea created a surprise. But those were only short-lived impressions in set 1. At that time, they had a score difference of up to 9-4 and had the opportunity to win at least 1 set.
But then U21 China did not let it fall too far. Their two best hitters from the beginning of the tournament, opposite setter Shan Lanfeng and main attacker Zhao Zhexi, both spoke up, helping the home team take a 13-11 lead.
U21 Korea did not give up easily as they continued to cling to hope by chasing closely. But the victory still belonged to China with a score of 25-21.
From here on, the initiative completely belonged to the defending champion team. There were no more surprises, as they easily won the next two sets with the scores of 25-20, 25-17.
This is the second victory of the Chinese U21 women's volleyball team, after defeating Croatia 3-1 on the opening day.
Meanwhile, U21 Korea lost both matches. Before that, they let the US beat them with a score of 1-3.
