In the match for the top spot in the first round of SEA V.League 2025, the Vietnamese girls lost to host Thailand with a score of 2-3. Once again, we could not beat Thailand. But the positive statistic is that we won Thailand 2 sets in one match for the second time. Previously, in the first round of SEA V.League 2024 in Vinh Phuc (Phu Tho), the Vietnamese women's volleyball team also lost 2-3.

After the match, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet said: “Thailand did not win this match beautifully. We lost points because of VAR and the referee at key moments. However, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team also had problems with the second set, leading to an unfortunate loss. Although we lost, we were not disappointed. On the contrary, the athletes tried very hard and won 2 sets against Thailand. In 5 days, the second leg will take place at home, and then the Vietnamese women's volleyball team will get revenge on Thailand. The Vietnamese women's volleyball team will beat Thailand at home. I guarantee that.

Another positive point is that the Vietnamese women's volleyball team has 3 athletes winning individual awards: Tran Thi Bich Thuy (Best Middle Blocker), Nguyen Khanh Dang (Best Libero) and Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen (Best Opposite Setter).

Before the second round of SEA V.League 2025, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet registered striker Nguyen Thi Phuong in the list of 14 players of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team participating in the tournament. At the same time, the coaching staff did not register player Nguyen Ninh Anh to participate in the second round of the tournament.

This is to strengthen the attacking power of the Vietnam Women's Volleyball Team. Nguyen Thi Phuong was once on the list of 14 players participating in the AVC Nations Cup 2025, VTV Cup 2025 and played at some points. This player participated in the Shanghai Future Stars 2025 (China) friendly tournament of the Vietnam Women's Volleyball Team.

After the end of the SEA V.League, the coaching staff will have specific assessments before the Vietnamese women's volleyball team begins the preparation process for the 33rd SEA Games. At this year's congress, the Department of Sports and Physical Training and the Vietnam Volleyball Federation have assigned the task of winning a gold medal to the Vietnamese women's volleyball team.

Mr. Le Tri Truong - General Secretary of the Vietnam Volleyball Federation once spoke to the press: "The nature of high-performance sports is pressure and having to overcome yourself. If you do not set a goal, you will never overcome it and it is also difficult to achieve the desired results. The sports industry, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, after consideration, assigned the target of winning the SEA Games 33 gold medal to the Vietnamese women's volleyball team. We see this as a very difficult task and great pressure. Therefore, when working with the coaching staff, we determine that mentality so that the coaching staff can convey it to the team. We must turn that pressure into motivation to strive to complete the set goals."

Striker Tran Thi Thanh Thuy also expressed: "My teammates and I always trust the coaching staff, believing that the teachers will have a suitable training program as well as enhance tactics and playing style to help the team become better. The whole team will turn pressure into motivation to aim for the highest goal."

Stage 2 of SEA V.League 2025 will take place in Ninh Binh from August 8 to August 10. The goal that coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his team are aiming for is the highest position, including the ambition to beat Thailand. The players will focus on improving their tactics and maintaining their form before competing at the 33rd SEA Games.

Thai women's volleyball players are not afraid to face pressure

Stage 1 of SEA V.League 2025 has ended with the championship belonging to the Thai women's volleyball team, after a narrow 3-2 victory over the Vietnamese women's team. Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his team have the right to regret when they led their opponents twice but lost and finished as runners-up.

Speaking after the dramatic match, Thai athlete Pimpichaya Kokkram shared: "I am very tired. We played 5 sets so I feel tired, that's normal. But before the match against Vietnam, I have rested. I am ready to continue competing in Ninh Binh (Vietnam) next week in the second round of SEA V.League 2025".

In the first leg, the Thai women's team played at home and received great support from the fans of the Golden Temple country. However, in the second leg, they will compete in Ninh Binh and this is considered a great advantage for the Vietnamese women's team. In particular, the defending champion will have to face the pressure from the cheers and drums of Vietnamese fans.

"I don't think it's too worrying. We can handle this situation. We need to control ourselves first," Pimpichaya emphasized. Pimpichaya was voted the Best All-Around Athlete in Stage 1 of SEA V.League 2025 with his impressive performance and high form.

In addition, 3 other Thai players were also awarded individual awards: Ajcharaporn - Best Attacker, Thatdao - Best Middle Attacker, Pornpun - Best Setter.

The notable match between the Vietnamese and Thai women's volleyball teams in the second leg will take place at 7:00 p.m. on August 10. ( HH )
