Ho Chi Minh City school football sets record after 12 years

On the morning of May 20 at Tao Dan Stadium, the final round of the Ho Chi Minh City School Football Festival for the 2024-2025 school year opened, marking the biggest sports festival for primary school students.

The event is part of the "School Football" program in collaboration with the "Dynamic Vietnam" program, co-organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Football Federation, the Ho Chi Minh City Departmentof Education and Training and partners.

After 12 years of implementation, from 2013 - 2014, only 40 schools with 1,500 students participated. By the end of the 2024 - 2025 school year, there will be 262 primary schools with more than 18,000 students participating.

The final round will take place over 5 days, from May 19 to 23, 2025, with 189 teams participating. There are 2 competitions including 5vs5 and mixed 4 boys and 1 girl. Grade 3 has 30 boys teams, 32 mixed teams; Grade 4 has 34 boys teams, 33 mixed teams; Grade 5 has 38 boys teams and 35 girls teams.

Mr. Doan Minh Xuong, Head of School Football Department - HFF, shared: "Despite many difficulties, we still received enthusiastic and large participation from students and schools. This proves that the School Football Festival has become a healthy football playground, loved, trusted and expected by schools, parents and students."
