Yesterday (December 17), a newspaper in Korea reported that Coach Park Hang Seo would find it difficult to refuse a very attractive offer from PSSI to replace Coach Shin Tae Yong (also a Korean) in leading the Indonesian team.
This information appeared in the context of coach Shin Tae Yong facing many storms in the archipelago country, especially after Indonesia failed to make a successful start in the second qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup in Asia in November. Coach Shin Tae Yong's team lost 1-5 to Iraq and drew 1-1 with the Philippines.

These results put Indonesia temporarily at the bottom of Group F (this group also includes the Vietnamese team), with only one point after two matches.
However, after this information appeared, this morning (December 18), PSSI President Erick Thohir's assistant and PSSI Executive Committee member Arya Sinulingga told Bola Times: "The information that PSSI approached Coach Park Hang Seo is not true."
After receiving a response from the PSSI representative, Bola Times of Indonesia further explained: "Korean media said that coach Shin Tae Yong's contract with PSSI will expire in January 2024. But in fact, PSSI has extended the contract with coach Shin Tae Yong until June 2024."

"Mr. Shin Tae Yong will accompany the Indonesian team until the end of the 2023 Asian Cup and the second qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup in Asia (the second qualifying round ends on June 11, 2024)," Bola Times added.
In the near future, coach Shin Tae Yong and the Indonesian team will go to Türkiye for training, preparing for the 2023 Asian Cup (taking place from January 12, 2024 to February 10, 2024). Here, the team of the archipelago country will play 2 friendly matches against Libya on January 2 and January 5.
Mr. Shin Tae Yong plans to bring 30 players to Türkiye, then finalize the list down to 23 players to go to Qatar for the Asian Cup.
In Qatar, Indonesia will have another friendly match against Iran on January 9, before entering the Asian Championship. At the 2023 Asian Cup, Indonesia will be in Group D with Vietnam, Japan and Iraq.
