The person who built the "Phu Van Orchid" brand.
In 2018, with the desire to establish a high-tech garden in the locality (Phu Van traditional flower village), Ms. Tran Thi Loan founded Phu Van High-Tech Agriculture Joint Stock Company, implementing a project to cultivate orchids on an area of 2.3 hectares in Phu Van commune, Phu Ly city (formerly). Immediately after its establishment, her company applied transferred technical processes combined with Internet of Things (IoT) technology to the production, care, and pest control of Phalaenopsis orchids, contributing to the expansion of high-tech flower cultivation in an industrial direction.
Two of the company's projects were licensed by the People's Committee of Ha Nam province (formerly): "Application of Internet of Things (IoT) technology to build a model for producing seedlings and commercial Cymbidium orchids in Phu Ly city, Ha Nam province" (2018) and "Application of Internet of Things (IoT) technology to expand the model for producing Phalaenopsis orchids on an industrial scale in Phu Ly city, Ha Nam province" (2023).
The technical process of breeding, planting, caring for, and controlling growth using controlled technology has precisely managed the amount of fertilizer, pesticides, and growth regulators used, ensuring both cost savings and efficiency; overcoming the unpredictable nature of the weather, thus ensuring a high level of safety in production. As a result, the company has reduced material and labor costs; and can produce both seedlings and commercial orchids; proactively controlling orchid flowering as desired, ensuring concentrated blooms, high flowering rates, and flowering during the Tet holiday, a time of high market demand, thereby enhancing economic efficiency.
To cultivate orchids using high-tech methods, Phu Van High-Tech Agriculture Joint Stock Company collaborates with agricultural engineers and leading experts in flowers and ornamental plants from the Vietnam Academy of Agriculture to transfer orchid cultivation techniques according to VietGAP standards. The company's technicians independently stimulate seed propagation to achieve greater success in growing various orchid species, including many rare varieties such as: Dendrobium nobile, Dendrobium chrysotoxum, Dendrobium nobile, Dendrobium chrysotoxum, Dendrobium nobile, Dendrobium chrysotoxum, and Dendrobium chrysotoxum…
Every year, in preparation for the Lunar New Year, starting around July, Ms. Loan and her team of experienced agricultural engineers select orchid plants of uniform size, good growth, and meticulous care using the correct techniques throughout their development. She lovingly nurtures and cares for each petal, paying attention to every "breath" of the flower, so the orchids do not disappoint: thick and sturdy stems, long flower stalks, large, thick petals, beautiful colors, and vibrant hues lasting up to four months.
Applying a high-tech flower cultivation model to the traditional Phu Van flower village, Ms. Tran Thi Loan's company directly employs approximately 20 local workers for tasks such as propagation, planting, care, pest control, harvesting, transportation, and sales. The average income for each worker is 5-10 million VND per month. In addition, the company employs around 50 indirect workers for other supporting tasks in the value chain, such as: construction of greenhouses, production of growing media and pots, flower business operations, and ecotourism services.
Ms. Tran Thi Loan, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors and Director of the company, stated: "The tissue-cultured Phalaenopsis orchid seedlings are cared for by the company's own staff from the very beginning. Due to the application of the correct techniques, the plants develop very well, with high uniformity, comparable to those grown in other places with long-term cultivation. After many years of implementing the project, the company's employees have gained experience in applying the latest advancements in agriculture to growing and caring for orchids."
In particular, every year, the company sends technicians to study orchid gardens nationwide to create products that suit consumers and the general standards of society. Creating many orchid varieties in large quantities not only meets the tastes of orchid enthusiasts but also represents the company's long-term production strategy: preserving and developing valuable Vietnamese orchid varieties to avoid dependence on foreign sources.
Phu Van flower village, formerly known for traditional flowers such as chrysanthemums, peonies, cosmos, lilies, gladioli, marigolds, petunias, etc., is now famous for its Phalaenopsis orchids grown using high-tech methods and adhering to VietGAP standards. Products from Phu Van High-Tech Agriculture Joint Stock Company have established a strong brand in the Ninh Binh market and many other locations such as Hanoi, Hung Yen, Thanh Hoa, and Nghe An.
Ms. Nguyen Thu Phuong (Hanoi) was delighted to have purchased her most desired orchid pot, sharing that she has been a customer of the orchid garden owner for 4-5 years. She finds the quality of the flowers here excellent, with long-lasting blooms, lasting for more than 3 months. This is what sets Phu Van orchids apart from other orchids on the market.
Ms. Le Thi Quynh Hoa, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Phu Van Ward, Ninh Binh Province, said that the ward will focus on planning and building concentrated production areas applying high technology, promoting the development of smart agriculture, creating favorable conditions for households in the area to invest in high-tech agriculture, connecting agricultural production areas with tourist destinations, in order to develop the ward's agriculture sustainably. In the future, the ward will encourage collectives and individuals to establish high-tech agricultural joint-stock companies like Ms. Tran Thi Loan's company to build the "Hoa Phu Van" brand and stimulate tourism, developing the local economy and society.
