The event is an opportunity for premium seafood products from Ireland to get closer to Vietnamese consumers - one of Bord Bia's key markets in Southeast Asia.

Not only does it contribute to raising the profile of Irish seafood in Vietnam, the programme also lays the foundation for sustainable trade connections between the two countries, while opening up many opportunities for strategic cooperation with leading businesses in the field of seafood import, distribution and retail in Vietnam.

The quintessence from the Irish ocean to the Vietnamese table

With a long coastline and surrounded by cool, clear waters from the Atlantic Ocean - one of the richest fishing grounds in the world - Ireland is famous for its top quality seafood. According to Bord Bia, Ireland exports seafood to more than 70 countries each year, reaching a value of more than 600 million euros.

At the Irish Seafood Showcase, diners and Bord Bia’s trade partners were impressed by the visual and taste feast created by Chef Nguyen Manh Hung. From blue lobster ceasar salad, brown crab soup, garlic-crusted Irish bulots, black mussels cooked in curry, to pan-seared Irish scallops served with creamy Irish cauliflower, each dish fully celebrates the natural flavors and freshness of five premium seafood ingredients from Ireland.

Origin Green Commitment - the core value of Irish seafood

Beyond the fine dining experience, these five seafood products also represent the sustainability philosophy of the Irish seafood industry through the national Origin Green program. This unique initiative demonstrates environmental responsibility, authenticity of origin and the desire for sustainable agricultural development.

In Ireland, the manual, environmentally friendly harvesting method has been applied for many years, to maintain stable quality and output. Among them is the Irish bulot snail, thanks to its sweet, firm and nutritious meat, keeping its characteristic flavor for many years.

Irish brown crabs are also a testament to responsible fishing strategies. The main harvesting season occurs when the crabs are at their highest meat content (July to December). The crabs are carefully sorted at the source: healthy, qualified crabs can be shipped directly to Vietnam to maintain their freshness; undersized individuals are released back into the sea.

Regularly appearing on the menus of top restaurants in Europe, Irish blue lobsters attract diners with their rich, sweet taste and firm flesh. The lobsters are of high quality and stable in size thanks to strict conservation regulations, all female lobsters (marked with a V-notch on the tail) or individuals that do not meet the standards must be released back into the sea.

With Irish scallops, freshness and perfect texture are guaranteed from the catching stage and on-site processing by methods such as steaming, freezing, sterilization... The scallop meat retains its softness and characteristic sweetness, and is often served in grilled, pan-fried dishes, especially sashimi - a dish that depends entirely on the quality of the ingredients.

Representing the organic farming orientation, no antibiotics, no chemicals, Irish black mussels are given natural conditions to grow and achieve a high meat ratio, sweet meat. The entire process is strictly monitored by the Irish Mussel Council, ensuring consistent quality in each harvest.

A representative of Bord Bia said: “The Irish seafood products brought to the Vietnamese market by Bord Bia all have clear traceability of origin, and comply with food safety standards and catch quotas set by the European Union. Bord Bia promotes green, clean, and sustainable trade cooperation.”

Present in more than 14 countries around the world, Bord Bia operates with a model that directly connects Irish producers with the international market. In the past 5 years, Bord Bia has actively introduced many types of premium Irish seafood to major distribution channels in Vietnam, gradually affirming its position and quality.

With an average growth rate of 10-12% per year, the Vietnamese F&B industry shows great potential in accepting premium products that meet top quality criteria. This opens up promising opportunities for cooperation, so that the quintessential flavor and sustainable value of Irish seafood can continue to spread, contributing to enriching culinary choices and meeting the increasing needs of Vietnamese consumers.
