Superhero letter S-24/7 wins first prize in UPU international letter writing competition

The 52nd UPU International Letter Writing Competition (2023) with the theme: "Imagine you are a superhero with a mission to make every road in the world safer for children. Write a letter to someone to tell them about the superpower that helps you fulfill your mission" was launched in Binh Dinh on January 9, 2023.

The Universal Postal Union (UPU) Children's Writing Competition is jointly organized by the Ministry of Information and Communications, the Ministry of Education and Training, the Vietnam Writers' Association, the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union , the Vietnam Post Corporation, the Tien Phong and Children's Newspapers. The competition aims to encourage children's understanding and interest in global issues while stimulating their writing ability and cultivating creativity in learning literature.

After a period of organization, statistics show that all 63/63 provinces and cities have submitted entries with a total of 1,549,050 entries. The final jury has evaluated 135 entries, selecting 100 entries that won the contest prizes (01 First Prize, 03 Second Prizes, 05 Third Prizes, 30 Encouragement Prizes, 60 Promising Writer Prizes, 04 Prizes for students with disabilities).

As a result, the letter that won the First Prize in Vietnam of the 52nd UPU International Letter Writing Competition in 2023 belonged to Dao Khuong Duy, a student of class 6/1, Huynh Tan Phat Secondary School (Binh Dai district, Ben Tre province).

Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Huy Dung said: "This is also the first time Ben Tre province and the Mekong Delta region have had a student win the highest prize. Dao Khuong Duy's letter has been translated into French by the Organizing Committee and sent to the Universal Postal Union (UPU) in Switzerland for the international competition."
