Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son met with Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna.

Within the framework of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh 's official visit to the Republic of Estonia, on June 6, in the capital Tallinn, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son had an important meeting with Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna in the capital Tallinn.

At the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Bui Thanh Son thanked Minister Margus Tsahkna and the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs for actively coordinating and carefully preparing for the first official visit of the Prime Minister of Vietnam to Estonia.

The two sides expressed their delight at the positive developments in bilateral relations, especially since the meeting between the two Ministers on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in September 2023.

Minister Margus Tsahkna highly appreciated the significance of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's official visit to Estonia, emphasizing that this is an important milestone contributing to deepening bilateral relations.

The Minister emphasized that Estonia attaches importance to strengthening relations with the Asia-Pacific region, including Vietnam; affirmed that it will urge the remaining EU member states to soon ratify the Investment Protection Agreement between Vietnam and the European Union (EVIPA); shared Estonia's desire to further promote cooperation with Vietnam in the fields of trade - investment, digital transformation, etc.

The two Ministers agreed to promote the exchange of delegations at all levels; highly appreciated the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the two Foreign Ministries during this visit, emphasizing the need to soon implement a political consultation mechanism between the two Foreign Ministries, policy dialogue and cooperation in the field of information technology, towards building a modern digital diplomacy.

The two Ministers agreed to promote the focal role of the two Foreign Ministries in promoting the effective implementation of the results of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's visit to Estonia.

On this occasion, the two sides discussed international and regional issues of mutual concern. Regarding issues related to seas and oceans, the two sides agreed to maintain consultations at multilateral forums, especially the United Nations, contributing to maintaining peace, stability and sustainable development in the region and the world; affirmed their support for the settlement of disputes by peaceful means, through dialogue on the basis of international law and the United Nations Charter, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS 1982).

On this occasion, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Bui Thanh Son invited Minister Margus Tsahkna to visit Vietnam soon. Minister Tsahkna happily accepted the invitation./.
