Fed up with staying home for too long, an unemployed man in Russia impersonated a police officer for two months before being discovered.
Viktor (48 years old) from Stavropol region of Russia bought a uniform and pretended to be a traffic police officer in Pyatigorsk city. According to Oddity Central, wearing a fake outfit and with confident acting skills, Viktor patrolled many streets with real police officers.
Viktor actively stopped many reckless drivers and educated them on traffic safety rules. However, Viktor's impersonation was exposed after 2 months.
When checking the body cameras of traffic police officers on Pervomaiskaya Street, the authorities found that there were 5 people on duty but only 4 on file. After investigating, they discovered that the remaining person was a fake.
Viktor had been on patrol with four real traffic police officers at least five times since May, and none of them noticed anything unusual. After his arrest, Viktor admitted to impersonating a police officer. He was charged with traffic violations and obstructing police in the execution of their duties.
Real police officers who worked with Viktor are also facing fraud charges. They deny it, saying they never met Viktor before May.
