* Reporter: Where did you get the material to compose the song "City of Love"?

- Singer - musician NGUYEN QUANG DAI: I was born and raised in An Giang. My father is a person who loves music very much. He sings and plays the guitar very well. When I went to Ho Chi Minh City to start a career, my father advised me to keep my passion for music to compose and sing out my life's ambitions.

The song "City of Love" was born from my passion for composing and my deep gratitude for Ho Chi Minh City. In Ho Chi Minh City, I learned to be an actor and then participated in music performances. Ho Chi Minh City has given me so many opportunities, so to me, this is "City of Love".

* Why did you put Rap in your songs?

- I followed the first Music Exchange program organized by Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper. That day, I remembered most the advice of musician Pham Minh Tuan: "Write and convey your feelings about Ho Chi Minh City from the perspective of youth". I deeply understood his words.

Rap is a trend, loved by our youth. Therefore, I decided to put Rap into my compositions.

* You have been composing and performing since you were a student. From your own experience, is it difficult to promote songs based on themes to reach young people?

- I think it's very easy. I'm currently participating in the 2024 School Stage program organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports , performed by Lac Long Quan Stage Club, and will perform more than 50 shows.

The Lao Dong Newspaper has a very good Music Exchange program, and there are many activities behind the scenes. If the newspaper cooperates in promoting the campaign's songs, I believe it will spread to a large number of young audiences.

* Are you confident your song will win a high prize?

- That's my dream. At the "School Stage" programs, I will sing my song loudly. That is the biggest prize for me.

* Besides "City of Love", do you have any other projects in mind for composing songs about Ho Chi Minh City?

- I believe that not only me but many other young authors are still cherishing many projects for themselves about composing songs praising the innovation, dynamism, civilization, modernity, and humanity of Ho Chi Minh City. I will work with my friends to compose more songs for "School Stage" and compose musical excerpts about Ho Chi Minh City.

The songwriting campaign "The Country is Full of Joy" is organized by the Lao Dong Newspaper to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025). The Organizing Committee will select 20 excellent works for the final round. The final round will take place in February 2025.

To date, the Organizing Committee has received 62 songs from 45 musicians, singers, and singing groups. During the time of receiving works and preliminary screening, the Organizing Committee will select good works to stage and introduce at the 30th Mai Vang Awards ceremony (scheduled for the evening of January 8, 2025). At the same time, the Organizing Committee will also post the works on the newspaper's social networking platform to introduce to the community.
