Huong Dien Hydropower Plant continues to adjust the flow to downstream |
On the morning of December 3, the Provincial Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue issued two consecutive orders to operate reservoirs for Binh Dien and Huong Dien hydropower plants located on the Huong and Bo river basins.
Accordingly, the report of Binh Dien Hydropower Joint Stock Company shows that the water level of Binh Dien Lake at 7:00 a.m. on December 3 was at +84.76m, the flow to the lake was 593m3/s, the flow to the downstream was 319m3/s; the water level on the Huong River at Kim Long hydrological station was at +0.96m.
In order to ensure the safety of the project and the downstream area, the Provincial Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Prevention and Control requested Binh Dien Hydropower Joint Stock Company to adjust the operating flow of the reservoir through the spillway and turbine with a gradual increase in flow, avoiding sudden changes of about 450 - 650m3/s.
Adjust operation according to actual flow situation to the lake. When the lake water level reaches normal water level +85m, perform operation to maintain lake water level with incoming flow equal to outgoing flow.
Time to start increasing traffic at 9am the same day.
Similarly, at 6:30 a.m. the same day, the Provincial Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Prevention and Control requested to increase the regulated operating flow downstream for Huong Dien Hydropower Plant through the spillway and turbine with a flow rate of 1,537 m3/s.
Localities downstream of Binh Dien and Huong Dien hydropower plants strictly prohibit boating, firewood collection, and fishing on the river, and at the same time notify people to proactively take precautions.
Previously, in order to proactively respond to floods, in recent days, the Provincial Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Prevention and Control has also requested dam owners to increase flood control flow. Specifically, Huong Dien reservoir increased its flow from 300-700m3/s; Binh Dien reservoir increased its flow from 100-400m3/s; A Luoi hydropower reservoir operated the largest flow control of about 800m3/s and A Lin B1 hydropower reservoir (A Lin 3 - A Lin B1 reservoir cluster) operated the largest flow control of about 500m3/s.
According to the forecast of the provincial Hydrometeorological Station, today and tonight (December 3), in Thua Thien Hue province, there will be rain, scattered moderate rain, heavy rain, and very heavy rain in some places. Total rainfall is commonly 30-70mm, in some places over 120mm.
