According to regulations of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, the calculation of entrance exam scores for grade 10 of non-specialized public high schools in 2025 is different from previous years. Instead of multiplying the coefficient of 2 for Math and Literature, all 3 subjects are calculated on a scale of 10, without multiplying the coefficient.

Specifically, the scoring principle is as follows: Admission score = Math score + Literature score + Foreign language score + Priority score (if any) + Encouragement score (if any).

Regarding priority points, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training stipulates adding 1-2 points, depending on the subject. Students will only receive the highest priority points if multiple criteria apply.

Firstly, students are awarded 2 points if they are one of the following: children of martyrs; children of war invalids with a loss of working capacity of 81% or more; children of sick soldiers with a loss of working capacity of 81% or more; children of people who have been granted a "Certificate of enjoying policies like war invalids, but the person granted a certificate of enjoying policies like war invalids has a loss of working capacity of 81% or more"; children of resistance fighters infected with toxic chemicals.

Second, students are awarded 1.5 points if they are one of the following: children of armed forces heroes; children of labor heroes; children of heroic Vietnamese mothers; children of war invalids with less than 81% loss of working capacity; children of sick soldiers with less than 81% loss of working capacity; children of people granted "Certificate of enjoying policies like war invalids, where the person granted the certificate of enjoying policies like war invalids has a reduced working capacity of less than 81%.

Third, students are awarded 1 point if they belong to one of the following categories: having a parent who is an ethnic minority; being an ethnic minority student; or being a student in an area with particularly difficult socio -economic conditions.

In addition to priority points for policy beneficiaries, candidates will also receive additional incentive points if they win provincial-level prizes organized by the Department of Education and Training or in coordination with departments and branches organized on a provincial scale for national-scale competitions on culture, arts, sports; and scientific and technical research competitions. The incentive points will be added from 0.5 to 1.5 points.

Regarding the admission principles, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training stipulates that candidates who wish to register for admission to the school will be selected from high to low scores until the quota is full. Candidates who are admitted to the first choice will not be considered for the following choices. The admission scores for the second and third choices must be 1 and 2 points higher than the first choice.

When the admission score is lowered, public high schools are allowed to admit students with 2nd and 3rd wishes who meet the admission requirements.
