On the night of July 16, more than 10 officers and soldiers of the Traffic Police Department ( Ministry of Public Security ) and coordinating units were still on duty at the Command Information Center to process information and images transmitted from cameras on roads and traffic police patrol cars equipped with cameras across the country.
Major General Do Thanh Binh, Director of the Traffic Police Department, said that this is a level 1 management center of the Traffic Police Department with modern technology, combined with artificial intelligence (AI) applications.
To operate well, the Traffic Police Department is gradually perfecting to have "correct, sufficient, clean, and live" data. From there, the unit will connect different types of data and analyze and use the data.

The goal is to form awareness, traffic culture and maintain people's compliance.
"If in the past we maintained it with people - meaning officers and soldiers had to appear, then from now on we will maintain it with technology, operating 24/7, fairly and objectively," said Director Do Thanh Binh.
From the level 1 center of the Traffic Police Department, there will be 34 centers with miniature models in provinces and cities.
Officers and soldiers of the Command Information Center work in shifts to ensure 24/7 operations.
Colonel Pham Quang Huy, Deputy Director of the Traffic Police Department, also said that the Command Information Center will fully meet the requirements of state management in the field of traffic, including connecting vehicle registration data, inspection, tax, customs, health and data from other professional departments of the Ministry of Public Security related to people and vehicles.
This will be the central hub, connecting small centers from localities, including data from all professional equipment of the entire traffic police force.
Data from the devices, after being sent to the center, will be analyzed by the AI system to identify behavior, then automatically transferred to the management file. The traffic police force will then transfer the fastest violation information to the vehicle owner via the VNeTraffic application.
All data from traffic situations, traffic violations... are transmitted to the Center.
For AI cameras, after recording a vehicle violation, the system will immediately extract related photos/clips. The content includes the route, time of violation, behavior... Based on the vehicle registration database, the owner of the vehicle will be immediately identified. Currently, AI can recognize about 20 violations and is continuously being developed, including cars and motorbikes.
"From now on, the police can be considered as patrolling in the electronic environment. The focus is to ensure the security and safety of the health, life and property of the people above all," Colonel Pham Quang Huy added.
In addition to monitoring violations, the center also manages the entire traffic police force during patrols. Through the digital map system, it is possible to see where officers and soldiers work.
When operating at a specific location, the name, identification number, and phone number of the staff working at that location can be tracked.
Traffic violations are sent to drivers' phones via the VNeTraffic app.
At the same time, the center also controls all traffic police patrol vehicles, including information fields on the number of vehicles in operation, parked to handle violations, and at which unit; which unit this working group belongs to, how many people it has, what tools it is equipped with, and what topic it is working on on which route... From here, the center can coordinate in case of an emergency that needs to be resolved as quickly as possible.
Another task of the center is to support the investigation and settlement of traffic accidents.
Colonel Pham Quang Huy gave an example of a hit-and-run accident. According to witness testimony, the driver was driving a red car, wearing a white shirt, a 5-seater.
The AI system also helps traffic police review and redraw the vehicle's itinerary through features such as vehicle paint color, license plate... to find vehicles that flee when causing traffic accidents.
Through this, the center will filter on that route, during this time period, how many red cars passed by. And the car closest to the time of the incident will be analyzed, evaluated and find the entire route this car has passed, serving the search and investigation work.
In addition, this center also automatically detects acts that disrupt security and public order, such as: traffic participants holding swords, spears, weapons... on the street are also recognized by AI and warned to the on-duty force.
Every face will be remembered and extracted when public order disturbances occur. From there, the authorities can easily find the whereabouts of suspects. At the same time, the system also recognizes the faces of wanted subjects.
The entire coordination, analysis, recording and processing of the center is fully automated.
AI automatically identifies violations and connects with other data so that traffic police can immediately send notifications to vehicle owners.
Colonel Pham Quang Huy added that the traffic police force is currently developing a specialized application for traffic police.
In case of vehicle violations, hit-and-run accidents or crimes, police units will enter all information into this application. The information will then be transmitted by the command center to the entire traffic police force.
Colonel Pham Quang Huy said that the transmitted data will be used through an artificial intelligence (AI) software system to automatically identify behavior.
In the future, patrol teams will have specialized equipment integrated with traffic police applications. This device can read driver information through citizen identification, take photos or use the driver's fingerprints.
Traffic police may now not need to check drivers' driving licenses and vehicle registrations physically, but with technology.
Then, as long as the violator confirms the correct behavior through this specialized device, there will be information to create an electronic record.

This information is also automatically transferred through the system, connecting with the violation handling software, treasury, bank, public service portal. Violators can pay fines through the public service portal or bank, and can completely handle it at home.
In addition, through the VNeTraffic application, the Traffic Police Department considers it a communication tool between traffic police and people.
Currently, the application has 4 main features. The first is reading information about traffic safety, drivers can check the route, upcoming direction to see if there are any incidents or congestion.
Colonel Pham Quang Huy shares about VNeTraffic applications
The second is to look up information about violations through license plates. The third is to look up information about license plate auctions.
Fourth, each citizen can provide photo information about traffic violations on the routes they encounter. From here, the police will verify and process from this data.
