Coach Alonso has a lot of work to do at Real. |
After bringing in four new players including Dean Huijsen, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Franco Mastantuono and Alvaro Carreras, the "Los Blancos" first team now has 25 players - the maximum number allowed to register in La Liga. This forces Real Madrid to let go of some players if they want to bring in more new players.
According to AS , coach Xabi Alonso has told Alvaro Rodriguez, Mario Martin and Reinier Jesus that they no longer have a chance at the Bernabeu next season, and should leave early. Alvaro Rodriguez is one of the young talents who was once expected, but could not break into the first team.
The young striker is likely to join Elche, who were recently promoted to La Liga. Meanwhile, Mario Martin is another young midfielder who was once highly-rated. In the 2024/25 season, Martin was loaned to Real Valladolid, but the team was relegated after a difficult season.
Although Martin showed potential in La Liga, his performances were not enough to convince coach Xabi Alonso. Reinier Jesus is another disappointment at Real Madrid.
Once a promising young talent in Brazilian football, Reinier failed to live up to expectations. Last season, he was loaned to Granada, a team in Spain's Second Division (Segunda), but failed to make much of an impact.
With poor form, Real Madrid is ready to cut losses and sell Reinier. Besides the three young players mentioned above, Real Madrid is also expected to say goodbye to some other first-team members such as Ferland Mendy, Fran Garcia or Rodrygo Goes.
