Bui Van Hoa Street connects National Highway 1 and National Highway 51 and will play an important role when the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway comes into operation. However, this route is currently overloaded and degraded.
On February 22, according to news from Bien Hoa City, Dong Nai , the locality has just made a proposal to relevant departments and branches about supporting the completion of documents for submitting for approval the pre-feasibility study report and investment in the project to expand Bui Van Hoa Street through Bien Hoa City.
Traffic volume on Bui Van Hoa street also reaches tens of thousands of trips per day.
Bui Van Hoa Street is a parallel road connecting National Highway 1 to National Highway 51, which has partly reduced the load on National Highway 51. However, the road was built a long time ago and lacked a drainage system, so it has deteriorated and is severely damaged.
According to the reporter's records, Bui Van Hoa Street is nearly 6km long, with the starting point intersecting with National Highway 1 (right at Tam Hiep tunnel). The end point of the route is the roundabout at the intersection with Vo Nguyen Giap Street to reach National Highway 51. This is a traffic route connecting a number of industrial parks in Bien Hoa city with National Highways 1 and 51. This route has a very high traffic volume every day due to the presence of many industrial parks and ports.
Although the traffic is heavy, the road width is from 12-15m, so there are often traffic jams, especially during rush hours. Especially during the holidays, the road carries a large load, many times the congestion lasts for a long time.
According to the authorities, traffic jams and congestion will increase if Bui Van Hoa Street is not soon invested in and expanded. Especially when Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway is completed and put into operation. Because this route also directly connects to Gate 11, which is only about 1km from the intersection to the expressway. Thus, Bui Van Hoa Street will be the main traffic route connecting Bien Hoa city center with Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway.
According to the original plan, the Bui Van Hoa road expansion project had a road width of 54m, but due to the large investment capital, the project has been proposed many times to reduce the cross-section scale of the road to reduce the total investment.
Mr. Ho Van Ha, Vice Chairman of Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee, assessed that when Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway is completed and put into operation, traffic volume on Bui Van Hoa Street will increase. Therefore, investment in expanding this route is urgent.
Many sections of the route are degraded, waterlogged and require regular maintenance.
In mid-February, at a meeting to hear reports on the progress of key transport projects in the province, Mr. Ha said that initially, the capital to implement the project was expected to come from the source of equitization of enterprises, but it was not possible. Therefore, the provincial leaders asked the Department of Planning and Investment to calculate and propose the capital source to implement the project.
According to the representative of the Department of Planning and Investment, Bien Hoa city has also submitted a pre-feasibility study report for this project and the department is collecting opinions from relevant units.
Bien Hoa City also proposed the Department of Construction to approve the adjustment of the cross-section of Bui Van Hoa Street in the B4 subdivision planning dossier. Accordingly, the road width will be kept at 54m, while the road width will be increased and the sidewalk width will be reduced to 6m. According to preliminary calculations, the total investment of the project is more than 4,000 billion VND.
According to the reporter of Giao thong Newspaper, Bui Van Hoa Street has been degraded recently, many sections often have traffic jams and collisions. Some locations still have stagnant water and potholes, and the authorities have also regularly maintained it to ensure people's travel.
Before the recent Lunar New Year, Bien Hoa City also took action to deal with the problem of encroachment on sidewalks and roadsides to make the roads more open and traffic more convenient. However, according to residents, in the long term, the roads need to be widened to ensure traffic flow.
Mr. Nguyen Anh Trong said that every time he travels on Bui Van Hoa Street, he is fed up with traffic jams, especially at the entrance to Long Binh Industrial Park and near Gate 11. The most dangerous thing is that there are markets and schools on the route, so the students' travel makes their parents very worried. Mr. Trong hopes that the authorities will soon resolve to upgrade and expand the road so that people can travel more conveniently.
Similar to Ms. Phan Thom, who often goes to work along this road, she shares her anxiety every time she drives parallel to dump trucks and containers. Therefore, she hopes the road will soon be widened and divided into lanes to ensure safety for people on two wheels.
“Accidents happen frequently on this route because small cars go with big cars, which is very dangerous. People here just hope the road will be widened so it will be safe,” said Ms. Thom.
