This year, people have 7 days off for Tet, so traveling for Tet is a need of many people. Understanding this, many scammers take advantage of people's psychology of wanting cheap things, even lack of experience, to carry out fraudulent acts through the form of buying and selling tours or tourism services on social networks to profit, causing many customers to lose money, be upset and angry.

Having fallen into the trap of scammers during Tet 2023, Mr. Le Quoc Dat, in Ha Dong district, Hanoi, said that on social networking sites, many tours of reputable companies, large and small, were advertised, but it was true that only after going there did he realize "you get what you pay for".
"My family also had an unsatisfactory spring trip. That tour only took me to shopping centers and entertainment areas that I didn't get to experience much of, and the food and family activities were taken to very ordinary, simple places, not like the 4-star and 5-star service quality advertised on websites," said Mr. Dat.
According to Mr. Nguyen Tien Dat - Vice President of the Capital Tourism Club, Director of AZA Travel, the tricks of scammers are often to take advantage of the scarcity of rooms in tourist destinations, using images of luxury hotels, "hot" tours... to advertise.
To create trust, many people even set up fake websites of reputable travel and tourism companies to sell tours, airline tickets, and room rentals at prices significantly different from the market. But right after transferring money, they immediately cut off all contact, social networking sites like Facebook, Zalo, etc. also closed, and consumers can only complain and do nothing.
Mr. Nguyen Tien Dat - Vice President of the Capital Tourism Club, Director of AZA Travel talked at the VOV2 live studio.
According to Mr. Nguyen Tien Dat, another form of fraud that is also applied by these subjects is the service of making foreign tourist visas during Tet.
"Many people have reported that they booked visa application services with a commitment to a high "pass" rate, but after the victims transferred the payment, the subjects would let the victims fill out the application form and complete the documents themselves... Then, when they were not successful, they would use many excuses to blame the victims and not return the money," Mr. Nguyen Tien Dat informed.
To avoid being "trapped" by scams, people should be vigilant before deciding to buy tours or travel services at cheap prices. They should only choose services from reputable companies or through travel applications or choose reputable social networking sites where they know the seller's information clearly...
At the same time, people need to be alert to the requirement to deposit to reserve a seat as well as equip themselves with online transaction skills to avoid falling into the "trap" of online scams.
