TPO - The 2025 10th grade admission season of the Gifted High School (Ho Chi Minh City National University) continues to be "hot" with more than 3,500 applications. Although the school did not announce the "competition ratio", the number of candidates flocking to specialized subjects such as English, Math, Literature... shows that the level of competition is no less fierce than every year.

The Gifted High School (Ho Chi Minh City National University) has just announced that 3,509 candidates have registered to take the 10th grade entrance exam for the 2025-2026 school year. This number is almost equivalent to the 2024 admission season, showing the stable attraction of one of the top high schools in the country.

English continues to be the subject with the highest number of candidates registering, with 1,272, a slight increase compared to 1,229 last year. Mathematics ranked second with 1,018 candidates, while Literature had 782 candidates choosing it. Other specialized subjects such as Chemistry, Physics, Biology and Information Technology recorded 364, 244, 266 and 205 registrations, respectively, generally unchanged compared to 2024.

Although the number of candidates registering is much higher than the school's quota, the Admissions Council noted that this does not accurately reflect the "competition rate" for the school's 17 specialized classes. Because the admission form is based on a combination of wishes and exam results, it is impossible to determine the specific competition rate of each specialized class.

"The school hopes that candidates and parents will not speculate or create unnecessary pressure, but should focus on studying to achieve the best results," the admissions board informed.

Time to take the entrance exam to the High School for the Gifted at Ho Chi Minh National University

This year's exam schedule takes place over two days, May 24 and 25. The first exam day includes three non-specialized subjects: Literature (100 minutes), English (60 minutes) and Math (120 minutes). The second exam day is for specialized subjects, in which English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Information Technology are tested in the morning, and specialized Math and Literature are tested in the afternoon. Each specialized subject lasts 150 minutes.

Candidates will take the exam at three locations: the main campus on Nguyen Chi Thanh Street (District 5), Saigon Practical High School (District 5) and the campus in Thu Duc City.

At the Thu Duc test site, some test rooms are held at the Administration Building of the University of Natural Sciences (Ho Chi Minh City National University), about 200m from the Gifted High School. The school also arranges a canteen to serve lunch to candidates who take the test twice a day.

Exam notices will be issued on the system from May 21. Candidates need to print out the exam notice, bring their ID card or other photo identification and be present at the exam location at least 45 minutes before the exam time.

In case of detecting any errors in personal information, candidates must immediately report to the supervisor during the first exam session for timely correction. Any discrepancies in wishes must be reported via email to the school before May 23.
