SHB Da Nang wants VPF to hire foreign referees when meeting HAGL

TPO - The football team related to boss Do Quang Hien has asked Vietnam Professional Football Joint Stock Company (VPF) to hire a foreign referee to officiate the match with HAGL in round 24 of LPBank V-League 2024/25.

The match will take place at Pleiku Stadium on May 23, the result may affect SHB Da Nang's relegation race. Specifically, after round 23, SHB Da Nang is at the bottom of the rankings with 20 points, equal to the second-to-last team Quy Nhon Binh Dinh but has played 1 more match.

On the contrary, HAGL (27 points) is almost certain to stay in the league and has no motivation to compete. However, the relationship between the two teams related to Mr. Hien and Mr. Duc has long been considered "not very friendly". In the last round, HAGL lost heavily to Thep Xanh Nam Dinh, while SHB Da Nang earned 3 valuable points against Quang Nam .

If they lose, coach Le Duc Tuan and his team will face many risks when in this round, Quy Nhon Binh Dinh will play away at Dong A Thanh Hoa, which has also been relegated.

Da Nang is at risk of relegation if they do not win 3 points when meeting HAGL.

In the dispatch sent to VPF, SHB Da Nang also stated that the result of the match with HAGL is important and will affect the relegation race. The team related to Mr. Hien therefore requested VPF to invite a reputable foreign referee to officiate the match to ensure transparency, objectivity and professionalism.

In fact, in the final rounds, VPF advocates hiring foreign FIFA referees to reduce pressure on domestic referees, avoid reactions and “psychologically influence” the teams. However, the fact that a team proactively requests to hire foreign referees for reasons such as SHB Da Nang is unprecedented.

The hiring of foreign referees is subject to specific regulations of VPF and the Arbitration Board, and depends on the working schedule of foreign referees.
